Kanye Wests best album is Late Registration. He simply sold out after that.

I wouldn't say that he sold out.. He just stopped living the Black experience so was no longer able to accurately represent it in his art....

Songs like Family Business and Roses are hard to be recreated when you're in Rome and Milan surrounded by wealthy homosexual white men...

The memories that spawned "Drive Slow" or "Space Ships" are too far away in his mental rear view window for him to gain inspiration from...

So essentially what you're saying is that he's so far away from his old self that it's hard to create tracks like he did because he consciously chooses to hang around homosexual white males in Milan.

Are you trying your very best not to blame Kanye here breh? :shaq2:

HAHAHA...I have no problem being hyper-critical of Kanye and hold him to a high standard because he's compared himself to legends like Prince...

It's just not about blaming him or not blaming him.. He's made choices in his personal life that obviously make him happy as a man..I don't feel like he owes us anything...Especially someone like me that doesn't buy his music or go to his shows..

Even on his first albums he was talking about the struggle between trying to be like Talib and a "bling" rapper...

After his second album he could write his own ticket and was at a fork in the road where he could chose going the route of Mos Def or Jay-Z...He made his decision and it's obvious where he's at right now..It's easier to stay popular and relevant rapping about lambo doors on airplanes and your new Benz...

Whenever someone says they are bigger than hip hop or they wanna be "rock stars" or start taking pleasure in having more white fans than Black..You gotta just let them go...

And backslash is right.. He really is being himself and rapping about his life...He just seems to be someone that you don't like or can't relate to anymore...Which is totally reasonable...

Late Registration still is my favorite album, I don't think he fell off tho, however, 808's was a dud

Most his music became more demonic after this as did his image. Its so demonic, friends.

SO do you want me again to expose how much of a hypocrite you are and also show you how little you know about the worldview u pretend to act like you know about around these boards?

How u want it the tux or the toolie?:ohhh:

I dnt understand this post in the slightest..reason being.

I think you are overly critical on Kanye's newer work than his older work.

Cuz when I listen to Kanye..I see the same ol materialistic, lust driven struggles, light religious references, pro black, arrogant Kanye I heard/hear on LR.

I dnt really see much of a change in Kanye, ya the experiences be different but he hasnt really strayed from his roots..he still seems like the same ol Kanye I been hearin.

Idk what u hearin breh :yeshrug:

He was more conscious.. And not in the generic "pro Black" way of consciousness...But he was more aware of the impact and power of his words..He was able to step outside of himself and view the world around him better imo...

Old Ye= Even if you in a Benz, you still a n1gga, in a coupe

New Ye= Last week I was in my other, other Benz

So now he's pretty much admitting that he's just a n!gga in a coupe.. But he's celebrating it with such excitement and enthusiasm that he doesn't even see the irony in it anymore..He's consumed by the same materialism and vanity that killed his own mother...

Listen to how his friend Jamie Foxx describes how Kanye described his vision of "making it"..And tell me this isn't a dude that lost perspective ..

This post is the truth. What's sad is he always was an advocator of the phrase, "money can't buy you happiness" with songs like Addiction and it just seems like his mother dying sent him in the wrong direction.

She was his manager for his first two albums let's not forget.

He is who he always was

Kanye was just smart enough to know that the conscious lane was gonna get him the most exposure because there was a small yearning for it. Imagine how he would have been received during 50's reign as a mostly materialistic/swag rapper.

i disagree

kanye never sold out, he's still and always have been making the music he wants to

just because he went a more pop approach after Late registration don't mean shyt. kanye's vision is still all over his albums and nowadays his name is on that list of rappers who the labels can't control. 808's is what he wanted to bring out at the time and the type of music he wanted to put out.

i do agree, however, that late reg is his best album and remains untouched
the strings:ohlawd:

i agree with pretty much all of that. kanye contradicts himself on the regular and doesn't even realize it. On so appalled, he says "That's why another dance track gotta hurt/I rather spit something that got a purp", yet he's been coming out with so many so called dance tracks and songs with no purpose in the past 5 years its nothing but contradictory.

However, I do think he wanted to stray away from that self-conscious rap lane because he realized he doesn't live that old life anymore of bill payments and window shopping and has adjusted to his new superstar lifestyle. kanye actually spit some retrospective shyt on MBDTF though. he was actually almost just as self conscious and aware of the world as late registration.
