To be fair Kareem like Wilt calls / called out all big men who they believed could have been better if they added certain aspects to their game.

That is just how them dudes were. Kareem and Wilt have called out many great big men over the years on holes in their game. shyt Kareem talked for years how Shaq should have learned the hook shot (due to his broken wrist) and not use so much power and force and that it would extend his career.

Jokers on here just act sensitive whenever Dirk is talked about in a not so good light. But if Lebron and Kobe who are probably top 10 players can be called out (and who played both ends of the court) then surely Dirk can be called out as well.

The era he was in? You mean with short players? Like 6'8/6'9" power forwards like we have now?

Or 6'6' forwards like Barkley/Rodman?

Or is height not actually a good indication of rebounding ability, which we've seen in the likes of Bargnani and Lopez?
or the inflated pace and low fg% increasing the number of rebounds available. Averaging 14 rebs didnt mean as much then as it does now

With this logic steph's not a superstar.

Depends on what your definition of a superstar is...

Like...people say this guy is the best player in the league...where physically...he can't even do some of the stuff a 30 year old wearing down Lebron can still do...

not to derail the thread but when it comes to players it has always struck me as funny as how the criteria changes...

Like...every game GS plays it's "Steph dropped 35!" "Steph hit 7 three's!" "Steph scored 38 in 3 quarters" Every regular season game he has played in the last 2 years we are all about his numbers...

Lebron drops 40 and it's "who cares he got to win a championship"...Lebron has a triple double and it's "so he needs to win a title in cleveland"...dude almost averaged a triple double in the finals and all i remember hearing is how somehow cleveland losing was his fault...every player on the heat except for him got ran off the floor against swag antonio but all i remember hearing how it was his fault and he was running back to cleveland...

One of these guys is viewed as a superstar and all we talk about is his regular season numbers...one of these guys is viewed as a superstar and all we talk about is how it doesn't matter what he does in the regular season...matter fact if he doesn't make the finals his season is a disappointment...

personally if you are the weakest defender on your team i don't see how you can be a superstar...if you can't guard your matchup in a game i don't see how you can be a superstar...if the other guard has to guard the point guard for you i don't see how you can be a superstar...

It's easy for steph to sneak diss all these players like KD and Westbrook when he not going to spend 1 second guarding either of them...that dude is going to be glued to roberson and waiters hip all game...

or the inflated pace and low fg% increasing the number of rebounds available. Averaging 14 rebs didnt mean as much then as it does now

His career high for rebounds was 1975-1976 where he got 16.9.

Lets look at the league stats: NBA League Averages | Basketball-Reference.com

The league average for total rebounds then was 47.4, compared to 43.4 today.

The league averaged 49 misses per game then compared to 47 in today's league.

The league averaged .458% shooting compared to .449% today.

The pace was 105 then compared to 95 now.

So you're right, pace is dramatically different, but the numbers of misses is similar, the FG% favours them largely, and there was only 4 more total rebounds back than compared to today's league. What I'm saying is you have no real argument, Kareem was simply a better rebounder than Dirk. In fact he was a better everything except shooter than Dirk, so again this argument is pointless.

Then you haven't been paying any attention.
yeah, I think you heard it one time and decided to run with that one time as being the norm.

Shoot, there are more jokes about how Lebron got outplayed by Jason Terry and couldnt back down JJ Barea than Dirk did it on his own.
