The Truth
People need to take into account that the league is more catered to small ball, fastbreak type games now.

Rarely are teams sitting and ISO’ing in the half court anymore all game. So teams played slow which meant less energy spent on court.

Zion should definitely be playing 30-35 minutes a game everynight.. sometimes more. But with this condensed schedule and faster pace, I think Malone should stfu

Philly bouls, Trust the Process
Exactly seems like basically the past 10 years the minutes leader dropped until last season. Allen Iverson and Anthony Mason were playing 43 minutes a night.
The pacing is infinitely faster. In 37.5mpg last year as the league leader, Lillard was playing 78 possessions per game. Allen Iverson at the highest mpg of his career, 43.7, played 81 possessions per game. Only a 3 possession difference. Karl Malone at the highest mpg of his career was playing 79 possessions a game.

Similar number of possessions, while the league is also acknowledging that it's foolish to have guys average 40+ in the regular season so that they are still somewhat fresh in the playoffs. Teams are trying to win championships, not the regular season

Moral victories are fun minor league coaches :scusthov:

I understand what Malone is getting at, but Zion’s case is different. He’s transitioning to the NBA as a tweener and is coming off an injury and adjusting his playing weight to start his career. I agree he does need to be able to eventually play long minutes without getting gassed. You’re at a huge competitive disadvantage if your franchise player isn’t able to stay on the floor because of shape. Bigs like Shaq averaged 37 minutes a game their rookie year

I'll never understand how pro athletes can let themselves be out of shape.....your body is literally your money maker......if I was a team dumping that kind of money in a player id have the contract loaded with fitness stipulations...

no excuse not to have a full time personal chef, dietician, trainer etc

And if they're a good enough player they'll tell you fukk your contract and find a team that let's them live how they want.

You think Steve Nash and the Nets going to make James Harden weigh in like a show girl?
