Okay see, that's not what I said.

Happiness is not a byproduct of money - Happiness is a byproduct of what you do that satisfies you.

It just so happens that most people think the things that satisfy them the most can be obtained easiest with more money. That's not necessarily the case, and many people find this out the hard way. The contrast to this is that there are people who have "pennies" who are happy, because they still get to do what they find satisfying.

Please spare us with the zen Buddhism happiness is a state of mind shyt, breh.

Would the average person be happier with pennies, living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to pay rent, struggling with health care costs..or having $200 million in the bank with no concern for the items listed above?

You act as if we live in heaven and we can just go out and grab happiness...The fact is that a lot of things that make people happy are not free. They are intimately linked with money.

Being healthy makes you happy? Cool, how healthy can you be with no access to health care? Living stress free makes you happy? Cool, how stress free can you be living paycheck to paycheck? Traveling and seeing different places makes you happy? Cool, how happy can you be with no funds to travel?

nihilism actually encourages one to find their own meaning, as there is no universal meaning and it’s all subjective.
i woke up this morning with the random thought in my head that all my friends and family are going to eventually die including myself

Now i had obviously already knew this in back of my mind but for some reason the thought came to the very front of it while I was in rim sleep or something

fukked up my whole day and made me emo

:mjcry:

but yeah its hard to have sympathy for rich people, i'll have to agree with @the cac mamba

she coulda used that 200 million to have an orgy and pay Mandingo to fuk her brains out and make her forget about her sadness

we out here starving, struggling to pay bills, fuk em

no amount of keyboard psychiatrist juelzing from @biscuitsnbangers is gonna make me empathize with a woman with 200 million dollars in the bank who decided life was too hard. i guess that makes me a bad person :yeshrug:

Almost anything people derive happiness from - food, travel, knowledge, hobbies, etc. - is easier to obtain with wealth. The idea that wealth doesn't pave the way for an easier path to happiness is false, imo.

But that's the thing - there is no 'path to happiness'.

'Happiness' is what you get when you find out you've found the right path!

Look at the things you mentioned - they are ingredients.

Food itself doesn't make one happy - the feeling of being full/satisfied after eating does.
Travel doesn't make one happy - what you do with yourself when you get to the destination does.
Hobbies on their own don't make you happy - when you get good at them, that makes you happy.
Knowledge doesn't make one happy - correctly applying knowledge Is wisdom, wisdom makes you happy!

Money does make it easier to pursue the elements that can lead to being happy - but it can't do
anything for a person if said person doesn't know how to take those elements and make them a compound.
You can't get happiness by skipping the stuff that makes happiness!

no, your blissful and proud ignorance is what makes you one.

someone else’s unhappiness and struggles doesn’t cancel out a chemical imbalance in their brain chemistry. that’s not keyboard psychiatry, that’s a fact.

and wtf does being rich have to do with shyt? having money doesnt make you immune to depression, mental illness, sickness.
