From a music business standpoint, that amount is staggering. Coach K and P sold the whole QC label for $300M, with acts such as Migos, Lil Baby, City Girls, and more. Katy Perry got 75 percent of that amount for just HER catalog.

Obvisously she's had more trendy pop hits, but it really makes me wonder what type of lasting power black music has in todays world
Her albums were much more successful than all of them combined.

She’s a bigger star than all of them

White people run the game so eventually the music was going to run its course.

Every artist that blew in the 10s before streaming became available for everyone is lucky man. The radio still mattered back then and the music resonated a lot easier. A non Katy Perry fan could easily recognize her songs whether they know it's her or not.

Olivia Rodrigo is one of the biggest pop stars coming up and even after listening to her songs I couldn't pick one of them if it got played on repeat. The value of music has depreciated exponentially

If a company is willing to buy your product/work for a price it is usually worth 10x more.
It’s worth more to a company who owns a lot of music.
If an advertiser or media company wants to use music in their product or to sell their product they don’t want to have to establish a relationship with Katy Perry they’ll go somewhere that can offer a variety of music for whatever they want to do with it.
