I took this more as KD is going to get his regardless. Nothing you can do to stop it. The team's success depends more on what Steph is giving you. It's like if a team is playing the Cavs during those years there was no stopping Lebron. But if Kyrie is givng you 30 then the team is unbeatable. Wouldn't make Kyrie the better player, just the one that you have a chance of slowing down.

that's false and a made up talking point. :francis:
in the series of OKC vs GS, GS made sure to double KD to slow him down and it worked, they came back and beat OKC. You can slow KD down with double teams.
the defense can not lie, it will always set their defense to stop the opposing team's best player on the court because that player's ability dictates the defensive coverage in the end.

If he could go back in time, I bet he'd hard pass on GSW and do his "Brooklyn" move sooner.

i.e. Find another star running mate to join him on a mid/low tier playoff team.

Now what the free agent market was looking like back in 2016, I dont remember off top.
Think about what you're saying. Tell me any athlete that ever regretted winning championships without cheating besides KD :mjlol:

KD really tried to copy Brons template but he doesn't have the fan base and media on lock like Bron. It worked on the court but he wasn't mentally ready for the hate he would receive and he underestimated the fans Steph Curry had in the Bay.

Curry led the Dubs to their first Championship in 40+ years only 2 years before he came, it was too fresh :yeshrug:

Thats a good point. Lebron was more popular and had more fans than Wade.

Thinking about it I think Curry was more popular and had more fans than KD back then

He would have gotten way more validation had stayed and won in OKC

He never would’ve won in OKC

2016 the only free agent forwards were Demar DeRozan(dumb ass took a pay cut and didn’t even meet with other teams basically making the Kawhi trade possible), KD,Nick Batum, Chandler Parsons, Evan Fournier, Ryan Anderson, Kent Bazemore, and Evan Turner.

Harrison Barnes was offered a max by Dallas

If everything stays the same but he stays there the OKC Thunder becomes like the Clippers and the Rockets with CP3 go to two finals against Bron’s Cavs going at 1-1

Raptors still win in 2019 against any team but healthy Warriors with KD

If KD goes anywhere else, save CLE, with say DeRozan he takes over that town and if they win a chip, he's crowned by everyone. Not sure it would've been possible, but let's say him and DeRozan go to HOU...that's Bron's template. Also we can't forget that even with Bron playing his best ball and Wade falling off...it was still Wade county.

People have been making the inaccurate comparison to this move and Bron to MIA for years. This is more like Bron going to DAL in 2011 or BOS in 2010...just imagine that for a moment. He would've never surpassed Dirk/The Big 3 locally and nationally he wouldn't have gotten the same acknowledgment either. This is not about the media, or hate (which he didn't receive to anywhere near the level Bron did), it's about a player of his caliber joining a team that won 140 games and chip the two previous seasons and were right in the middle of GOAT squad talks up until the last week of the season, with the back ot back MVP (first unanimous) that also happened to come back from 3-1 to beat his squad. shyt even DAL or BOS ain't fukking with that but it's the closest you can get. You don't need hate, a fan base, or an agenda to see why it went the way it did. Even his own teammates and execs let him know what they really thought of him. They don't get down like that if they didn't do what I just listed above.

If he could go back in time, I bet he'd hard pass on GSW and do his "Brooklyn" move sooner.

shyt he had that already in OKC :mjlol:. All he had to do was show up and close out that WCF.

KD was the best player for us to sign talent wise to win chips but personality wise he was the worst player for a dynasty because he cared too much about what people said about him.

There's players out there that wouldn't give a fukk about what people had to say about them if they was winning chips and getting the max.

I thank him for his service regardless....don't know how he ever expected anyone to love him like Steph out here tho. I don't think an athlete is loved in any city more than we love Steph.
If we're talking current NBA players, the real answer to that is still Derrick Rose in Chicago.

Media folks get stuff wrong and all but yall really think this man is creating stories about a guy as public as KD, about situations in which other media members were present for? You can literally be sued for that. It's one thing to disagree with media folks but ya'll are crazy if you think these fairly high profile cats are just regularly lying to promote themselves. Doing stuff like that kills are your credibility which means players/coaches/etc won't talk to you. Also, 19 year olds on here get all emotional if someone disagrees with their GOAT list but yall steady jump on any media member who doesn't just sit back and let an athlete diss them. Make up your minds homies

You could be right...that was then tho. Nobody rioted when Rose was traded....see what happens if SC30 gets traded.
If Steph has a serious injury this season and cant get right within a few years and they trade him nobody from the Bay is gonna say shyt though. All superstar players are loved while they're at the top of their game.

All hate aside. I believe KD was open to playing his roll in GS and left because nobody say that or was willing to say that. He felt that in GS system he'd always have 1-1 (never ever doubled) advantage against anyone! If they would have just Played Ball, he felt his skills would have shown he was the best. No screens needed, moves well without ball, and wouldn't have to run ragged creating the system like Steph and Klay, his numbers would be astronomical. Dude was very wise in choosing GS, just proved Steve Kerr couldn't coach.

If that was the case then you wouldn't put 33 year old Bron on him and let him use all that energy on defense. Why didn't any team ever do this with the Cavs then? Based on what you just said it would make even more sense when you consider how much of a facilitator Bron is but yet and still every squads first priority was trying to contain him. Or...or maybe Lue was just throwing shyt at a wall hoping it would stick because his squad was clearly overmatched :manny:
