KD really tried to copy Brons template but he doesn't have the fan base and media on lock like Bron. It worked on the court but he wasn't mentally ready for the hate he would receive and he underestimated the fans Steph Curry had in the Bay.
Curry led the Dubs to their first Championship in 40+ years only 2 years before he came, it was too fresh
If KD goes anywhere else, save CLE, with say DeRozan he takes over that town and if they win a chip, he's crowned by everyone. Not sure it would've been possible, but let's say him and DeRozan go to HOU...that's Bron's template. Also we can't forget that even with Bron playing his best ball and Wade falling off...it was still Wade county.
People have been making the inaccurate comparison to this move and Bron to MIA for years. This is more like Bron going to DAL in 2011 or BOS in 2010...just imagine that for a moment. He would've never surpassed Dirk/The Big 3 locally and nationally he wouldn't have gotten the same acknowledgment either. This is not about the media, or hate (which he didn't receive to anywhere near the level Bron did), it's about a player of his caliber joining a team that won 140 games and chip the two previous seasons and were right in the middle of GOAT squad talks up until the last week of the season, with the back ot back MVP (first unanimous) that also happened to come back from 3-1 to beat his squad. shyt even DAL or BOS ain't fukking with that but it's the closest you can get. You don't need hate, a fan base, or an agenda to see why it went the way it did. Even his own teammates and execs let him know what they really thought of him. They don't get down like that if they didn't do what I just listed above.
If he could go back in time, I bet he'd hard pass on GSW and do his "Brooklyn" move sooner.
i.e. Find another star running mate to join him on a mid/low tier playoff team.
Now what the free agent market was looking like back in 2016, I dont remember off top.
shyt he had that already in OKC

. All he had to do was show up and close out that WCF.
