He's not playing. These kinds of injuries create an imbalance in the body. You have to rehab slowly. His body will subconsciously shift to make his opposite knee more dominant and he'll over stress it. You see it ALL the time. And for the most prominent example... see Derrick Rose.

A coli DR. Comparing a complete ACL tear to a mild sprain and bone bruise 4-6 weeks he will be fine he probably could play sooner but they will make sure he is %100 since its not the playoffs he will be back by mid first round at the latest.
