"I wasn't expecting to be a happy human being from a title," Durant told ESPN's Rachel Nichols in an interview that aired Saturday on SportsCenter. "I was just expecting like, you know, the ending of a movie -- once you worked so hard and everybody tells you like, 'Yo, this is what you need to be working for, is this gold ball and these rings.' And I'm just like, 'All right, cool, let me lock in on that.' And I locked in on wanting to achieve that, but I also realized it's a lot of stuff that factors in it that's out of my control.

"And once I won a championship [with Golden State], I realized that, like, my view on this game is really about development. Like, how good can I be? It's not about, you know, let's go get this championship. I appreciate that stuff and I want to win to experience that stuff, but it's not the end-all, be-all of why I play the game."

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant says development, not titles, is what drives him now

so why did you just build another superteam?

:comeon:

KD is just a hooper man. He team up with Kyrie and Harden cuz he legit friends with him and probably enjoys playing with them and being around them everyday. Of course he wanna win but when KD says he just wants to see how great he can be as a player I believe him. He just loves ball

:mjlol: cuz he knows his 2 are viewed as fraudulant
This nikka has never not played on a stacked team. Fraudantula will never be seen as top 10 player all time, all because he didn't have the patience and fortitude to organically win as a true alpha. Him and Kyrie deserve each other. At least Harden put in work for 5 years trying to do it the right way

Rings a ring. fukk that “fraudulent ring” narrative. Dude won the Finals MVP both times against the “Best player in the league”. I mean if it was against the young Celtics or Raptors(with Derozan) it’s one thing. But mans went head to head against a GOAT level player and got the best of him both times. :gucci:

What’s wrong with building a team with the best players you can get? I’ve been listening to people say this over and over and I haven’t had a positiopn on it or anything. But it’s starting to sound like some old white man slave master shyt where you try to get people to do what you want by shaming them.

Just for the sake of competition..I guess its just a alpha dog mentality thing. Stacked teams is like playing 2k on easy

I never played in the nba but I played overseas and I never wanted to play on a team that always got the best of me...its a cop out nor do I want to play o. A heavily stacked team..but thats me and im not in the league

Players are under contract, they're not front office executives. Players play, front office builds.

That's how sports work. Player empowerment is not what you think it is. All rings are not created equal. History will care even if you don't.

when bron creates superteams

the narrative is player empowerment etc...

KD mirrors brons move and it's rigging the nba
