It's purely for entertainment having him on there. It was a business decision. Once you pay for interview access, any journalistic credibility is out the window anyway. Everyone knew this dude wasn't gonna be stupid enough to be truthful about comitting a murder outside the confines of any legal protection. Vlad got him on because it's an intriguing story that's gonna drive traffic and generate dollars from ad revenue. And it's also a bit of a bragging point. He interviewed one of the men responsible for murdering a music icon in an unsolved crime.

I highly doubt Vlad was expecting him to be 100 with it. People get carried away with the whole "Officer Vlad" running joke. Dude is running a business. Nothing more, nothing less.
