Murray didnt take off right away.
Post breakup EPMD had them bringing out new artists . Murray and Keith Sinister were the ones who were cool, but similar enough to be confused for one another.

Murray blew up because he had great 1st solo single, he was a GREAT live performer , and he made memorable features on rap and R&B songs.
