Keith Murray was on some Spaced Out, Big Word, Battle Rap type rhymes/Canibus was the same

Keith Murray had the whole Hiphop community on his jock from his verse on Erick Sermons joint Hostyle /Canibus had the whole Hiphop community on his jock when he spit that verse on the Lost Boyz joint Beast from Da East

Canibus didn't live up to the buzz he had

Keith Murray lived up to the buzz dropping dope albums. His first two solo albums and the El Niño album with Def Squad was crazy

Cool Hiphop fact: Biggie was a Keith Murray fan... revealed during Biggies interview for the Source when they mentioned Biggie bumping Murray's music.

let's Appreciate Keith Murray. One of the most underrated Mc's that ever touched a mic

:salute:

And we can't forget He Squared Off Wit Tupac!

No. Keith Murray wasnt lyrical at all. He just used big words but the shyt never made sense
He made more sense than Ghostface and Raekwon.

:manny:

his style wasn't no different than a lot of these Smack battle rappers out today. Canibus was a new improved version of Murray except people lost interest in Canibus immediately when they heard his debut and it was all down hill from there.

Canibus had universally impressive rhymes. Keith Murray was only known for being buck wild.

Keith is like Busta, Sticky, or Craig Mack. Just saying the name Keith Murray makes some people instantly uninterested.

Bis on the other hand was the highest tier of lyricist.

It's the other way around. Keith Murray could jump on a radio/club banger like Phatty Girl or Special Delivery remix or Total's Can't U See remix

Canibus made music for the Hiphop nerds

Keith Murray is on of those "you had to be there" rappers.
People talk about him, and debate his true level of "lyricism", but they forget that EVERYBODY in the industry thought that dude was going to be a star. There really aren't that many lyrical rappers that had the type of "all eyes on me" physical presence that he had, when he came out.
Puff was rocking with him, he had the R Kelly collab, he even got the Def Jam deal after he got out of jail, but he just kept getting in his own way. And it's kinda hard to go back to his material and convince someone who wasn't there, that he had next.

But Canibus was like the most hyped artist in the world 20 years ago. Him going gold was a disappointment and flop. Bis was doing songs with Death Row era Dogg Pound, was on the Firm album, LL's album, was on the gone to November remix with R Kelly, etc.

If this was 1998 there would be all kinds of threads in here about him. I remember Budden talking about him being the most feared lyricist back in his heyday.

Salute to both

Keith Murray went gold also and his album got good reviews

Canibus going gold wasn't what fans was disappointed in... Canibus let people down because his debut album was hot garbage and he never recovered after that
