It's amazing how much power some groups have compared to others.

So there's a possibility that he could lose his team? If that's the case, then NBA players should be looking at a league wide boycott/ protest until he's removed or some kind of legal action against the league for doing continued business with a known racist. This Sterling issue has been left unchecked for 20 years and I can guarantee that other owners either felt the same way or knew the content of his character before those tapes were leaked which would make it a league wide endemic problem.
Any lawyer worth a damn would destroy that case. Proving someone is personally racist and proving that they have discriminated against you based on that racism are two different things. He personally did not want her bringing black people to the game, but he never acted to prevent, deny, or harass black people who did attend his games. That is not a Civil Rights violation. This guy had to make one of the largest housing settlements in American history, you really think that DOJ lawyers would not have brought this up as well or that someone would not have stood up and tried to get another suit....

Being a racist and practicing a policy of racial discrimination are just not the same thing. I can't even see how you could use these comments to make a claim for hostile work environment because they were said outside the workplace and were not intended to be heard(though perhaps Baron Davis could have with what was allegedly said to him). Again, I need to see the bylaws but none of this stuff sticks on first glance. The idea that the NBA could remove him so easily is a myth.

This is why I've been reluctant to get on yet another social media outrage train to nowhere.

Regardless of the leagues current bylaws, a work stoppage would get the process rolling to remove Sterling. The other owners could be forced to have an emergency meeting to amend the bylaws to include language about conduct detrimental to the league or financial need or whatever is currently protecting Sterling.

At the end of the day ownership is a club and the other club members get to define who is allowed in and who isn't.

To think it gets worse:

V: Do you know that you have a whole team that's black, that plays for you?

DS: You just, do I know? I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them? Do I know that I have—Who makes the game? Do I make the game, or do they make the game? Is there 30 owners, that created the league? @Kritic

:mjpls:

How can yall talk about "baiting"? Whether she baited or not (and she did) has no bearing on the fact that these are the thoughts and judgements he holds. This right here sounds like some slave owner/slave mentality that we (at least) I already had a clue about when it came to sports in general. He got caught wit it and the other owners (who feel similarly) are probably laughing at him and/or taking notes on how not to slip up themselves. I should had already been done with NBA and sports in general since its a distraction but this is the last straw type shyt

there is a comma betwen black american culture and hiphop FYI.

So basically what you're saying is someone needs to come around and be a piper. despite the fact that loads of information is there. interesting.

Umm yes. Thats exactly what happened with the Hebrews in Egypt no? If people dont even know that the information exists (let alone that they need to search for it) someone or some group has to come along and wake them up. A community of people arent just gonna wake up outta nowhere. Someone has to wake them up.

Right. They could amend the bylaws, and that might then force him to :camby: But whether or not that will happen remains to be seen. The players could be the catalyst for that. It would still be a protracted legal process. But it would be in his best interest to sell. But I never underestimate the stubbornness of old people.

it's a lot of ppl in the same position as these nba players that can't or won't get out of their situation but are the same ones talking about what should be done. i stopped watching the nba. i stopped watching the nba when lebron left cavaliers and said "ppl should go back to their broke lives than complain about his life" or whatever he said exactly. that really hurt me because lebron to me at the time was my favorite player.
basketball and sports in general took a lot of my time. and arguing with ppl about sports took out a lot of me. i get emotional and it really depresses me when my teams lose. my teams are mostly wack anyway so it was just constant depression:wow:. so i had to cut sports off. and with getting rid of sports i regained a lot of my life back. and that year lebron popped off was a really good year for me financially. i put my business shyt on hold for the playoffs and thought if i had continued i'd have made way more money. so being shyted on gave me a real reason to just cut off basketball. the next year i only followed some football but cut that off too cause my teams sucks anyway. thank goodness i don't get into the leagues cause i'd be wasting my time watching all games.

if i don't like a business i don't support it. if i don't like the clippers i don't think the owner should be forced to sell it. i know plenty of racist business owners and i don't support their businesses. i esp hate it when they have really good employees. or hate bad employees working for good owners. bottomline is i don't give a shyt about other ppl's businesses. they can run them however they want. i have my own to take care of.

and if you feel nba owners think the way sterling does then stop watching the nba :yeshrug:. i did. you have free will to stop supporting any fukkery. jordan treats black ppl way worse than sterling does. chameleonaire incident. i don't wear jordans. and really don't give a fuq about nike. it's owned by just another jew using money to milk ppl out of $500 dollar shoes. or however much they cost.
i generally only support local shyt and that's where it stops. it'd be nice to see more black ppl own shyt. i don't give a shyt about jordan. on sohh niccas exposed him even chicago niccas didn't fuq with him like that. i'm down with any humble mf.

there's plenty of shyt like this going on the world and it's time consuming trying to get to the bottom of it.

until ppl make a stand against elitists i don't see why they should be forced to sell their shyt. if business is good why should they sell? first make his pockets hurt then they'll either change or sell.

the owners will vote him out, not because they want to but because they have to. there's been too much negative backlash from the public and the NBA can't afford to have its image tarnished because of one owner.

it will be a legal clusterf*ck tho so i expect the process to take a while, especially if they have to create new bylaws.

Someone posted part of their charter that explicitly says that discrimination is strictly prohibited as a prerequisite of owning or operating a team. I'll see if I can locate or verify that.

The NBA as a whole does receive public support and protection though. They do have an antitrust exemption don't they? Doesn't that require them to abide by CRA?

pretty much, he isnt gonna be forced out because of any legal stuff, its gonna be because his presence will be untenable politically and economically

Did his girlfriend record him saying that shyt? Damn.... You can't trust anyone.

I am sure a lot of other owners say the same shyt, but they never get caught.
What people fail to realize about this is the comments are not reflective of one man but the society he is apart of where it would be an embarrassment for someone associated with him to be seen with ******s

I agree with this.

Here's what he said about black Jews in Israel.

What is he saying that isn't true? Black Jews are treated like garbage in Israel. fukk man... This is the world that we live in. You either accept it or kill yourself over it because it's not going to change in our lifetime. The Civil Rights movement didn't change anyone's feelings or opinions. It's just added new social costs and legal costs to expressing one's feelings.
The American Mindset of 1964 isn't any different than 2014.

The guy dated interracially and didn't want to deal with the social costs, so he wanted her to hide her black ancestry and heritage. Most people don't want to deal that added drama, so that's why they don't date interracially, myself included.

What?? So you don't date other races because ppl in your circle wouldn't agree with it? Is that what you're saying?
