Both all time greats, I have Jay in my top 3, while Kendrick is in my top 10. Hov music raised me so his spot is forever cemented. While as Kendrick is a year older than me so his rise was when I was coming of age in my early twenties.

Hov classics: Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, and Black Album

Kendrick classics: Section 80, GKMC, TPAB, Damn, GNX

Kendrick got more classics than Hov imo, and it isn't too far fetched for someone to think he's better than Jay. His catalog and accolades goes toe to toe with the greats (Rakim, KRS, Nas, Pac, Hov, Cube, etc.)

Damn, just unabashed Nas glazing. I hope he pay some of yall for this…

I eff with Nas, Hov, Kenny…. All of em, I’m a fan of hip hop. Hov might be my fave out of all of em but I love all their music. If yall fans of hip hop, why go out if yall way to bash em (not you in particular, but in general)?

Folks turn these discussions into glaze sessions…smh

Where was I lying tho?

Illmatic - 5 Mics from the Source
It Was Written 4.5 Mics.. and universally accepted as a classic.
Stillmatic - 5 Mics from the Source
The Lost Tapes was critically acclaimed.

KD3 was the highest rated album of 2022.

DAMN

That's three without controversy. If there's too much debate on whether something is a classic, it's not a classic IMO. So while I love S80, I can't really say it's classic because I'm not sure what the argument would be (influence, impact etc).

GNX just came out, I can't put it in that convo. It's a dope album with a lot of impact but just from a rap classic perspective...that title track is bad lol. I can't call it a classic. Yes there have been classic albums with bad posse cuts before, I just downgrade this one because it feels like he could have crafted a classic and decided not to.

I thought consensus was GKMC & TPAB. The others are mostly good but I don't think classic.

For me its Jay easily, but what they both have in common is excellent marketing.
The consensus was 4 in 2018, he released more projects after that.

Damn is the 2nd highest rated rap album ever, the 2nd biggest rap album of the 21st century in terms of pure charts performance, has the best selling rap song of all time, is the only pulitzer winning rap album ever, and was bigger in the streets than any west coast album before it.

That album is probably kendrick biggest classic.

So you not even familiar enough with the other side to form a credible opinion. Of course you can't compare them :mjlol:
I tried to listen to Kendrick. I just don’t like his music. However, I know he is nice. I honestly think it’s just an age thing. If I was younger, I guarantee I would be a Kendrick fan. Just my .02 cents.

Fair enough, but I'm sure yall not that far off in age

Dude about as old as Jay z when he dropped american gangster and blueprint 3

If you were rocking with those back then, probably as you said at first. His music just ain't for you. Which is cool cause I feel the inverse towards jay z

It's all opinion at the end of the day :manny:
