I hate take like these. Because Kendrick would still be big back then too. Think about all the rapper that rap like him now that don’t see half the success. If this nikka dropped good kid maad city and TPAB he would have still been looked at as one of the goats. The story telling in those albums none of the 90s nikka we’re doing concept albums to that level. Eras don’t change a damn thing and it’s a dumb take because Kendrick is heavily influenced by pac, Jay and Nas. Those were the study years for him.

I get it nikkaz don’t fukk with Kendrick but stars are stars. You can’t stop those. Like this is like saying if Biggie and Pac didn’t die would Eminem and Jay be as big as they are. Yall can say machine push and all that but there’s a reason why this nikka is selling out stadiums left right and centre. He was still selling out arenas before the beef with Drake and at one point had the highest selling concerts with some saying with his weakest album.

I hate this argument, because you speak as if Kendrick wasnt chosen. So your argument of "look at all the other people who make music like Kendrick" doesnt work. If guys like Translee or K.R.I.T had been chosen and Kendrick not, roles could be reversed. Obviously there is luck involved with everyone. But difference is Kendrick wasnt poppin regionally even before being handpicked. That matters when we start comparing to goats. Theres an asterisk involved with the plant life:respect:

You can be chosen all you want if you don’t know what to do with it you’ll suffer the same fate. Look at all the talented rappers that were pushed by a machine and they still fell into the abyss. The thing about Kendrick is he doesn’t operate on like a machine artist remember there was a time he wasn’t dropping music for 5 years. Most nikkaz machine or not don’t have that luxury if they ain’t super talented.

Kendrick being what he is now is by ethering Drake, that's obvious. Damn had more catchy, legit radio hit type songs and was a big album but GNX is easily his biggest album. GNX is as big as it is because Kendricks aura/demand for his music is so strong right now.

If Luther or TV Off was a single off Mr. Morale they'd be mild hits.
No lol... like billboard said, Kendrick was always bigger, Drake was just dropping more material, spamming streaming services.

Before dissing Drake, kendrick had and still has:

-the 2nd biggest rap album of the whole century (when it comes to charts), ahead of any drake album, as confirmed by Billboard

-the best selling rap song ever

-the longuest chartin rap album ever

-the #1 highest rated rap album ever by critics

-the #2 highest rated rap album ever by critics

-the only pulitzer prize ever won by a non classical artist

-the 2nd best selling rap tour ever as a solo rapper, only topped by Travis.
And those songs would have been hits regardless...they're perfectly written, every song on gnx is a hit. If anything, like its been said, GNX has way more catchy songs than any of his album, objectively. You're just talking abour your own, subjective and personal tastes here.

Highly disagree. I compare Kendrick to the best, and the top of the top musicians, artists, songwriters. At this point I'd go as far as to say its even an insult to just compare him to rappers. I don't care about the 2010s/2020s and I don't care about his peers.

Like George Clinton said, Kendrick is so talented that he could make an all time classic Funk or even Rock album if thats how he was feeling :yeshrug:

No question,i completely agree with that. Kendrick was an example of industry plant put to good use. But it doesnt change the fact that they bought out a trampoline to help him dunk. And once we saw how creative his dunks were,we lowered the rim. Does this take away from the creativity of his dunks? Absolutely not.

But does it make him Jordan/Vince Carter:respect:?

Considering he's having a muchbetter comprension of dunks than Jordan et Carter, in this case, yes.
