No. TPAB is MUCH better than that abstract, pseudo intellectual embodiment of mediocrity.

My opinion of course.

I love this video. I'm really impressed by the high quality visuals coming out lately for these dudes songs. That Big Sean video was exemplary as well.

Ironically, I feel TPAB is psuedo political, and the embodiment of mediocrity

I some of Kendrick songs, but it feels like he's just reading a phrase book or black political terms and throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks

"We hate the po po"
"Alls my life I had to fight"
"Black power forever"
"We not gonna take this no more"
"I'm 100% Negu"
"I'm Kunta Kente"

Just seems like he's creating a patchwork book of ideas he thinks it's cool, but doesn't really feel it himself
Lupe may show his intelligence on front street, but I feel that his songs are actually him. Like he lives and breathes what he raps about, whether you agree with him or not. Kendrick just sounds like he listened to a Public enemy album last summer and thought he should make an album about it :yeshrug:

But the beat of this "Alright" song is fire though :ehh:

If we're being honest here outside of their music neither is really "genius".
When they're rapping I think they're pretty brilliant but when it's time to put it into everyday speech
I'd rather just hear Michael Eric Dyson or Cornell West.
And with Lupe fiasco there are more than a few embarrassing instances of Lupe going off on tangents
like this :

While thinking he's really saying something brilliant.

And honestly I fail to see how Lupe's songs are "him", he can't "live what he raps about"
when like 95% of his content is not written from the first person perspective..at all..
He rarely talks about himself, he talks about THINGS, IDEAS, but rarely Lupe fiasco or really Wasalu.

Do you nikkas even know what mediocre means? :mjlol:

Kid Ink is mediocre. Tyga is mediocre. Any rapper or rap project you consider better than them or what they make is not mediocre.

Now if you think TPAB = The Gold Album, be sure to let me know so I avoid you in discussions :dead:

I agree. The majority of posters who espouse those sentiments on here are Lupe stans, seemingly jealous that K-Dot put out an album that the world loves and that's gotten way more attention (rightfully so imo) than Tetsuo & Youth.

I know I know, this era of Rap has been so shytty, that any semblance of good music is thought of as groundbreaking

Gone are the days when Nas, Biggie, GhostFace Killah, Tupac, and Jay-Z's throwaway tracks can make classic albums. Now all have to show for in this era is a guy who makes a book report of him listening to Public Enemy and Maya Angelou
