I feel he's just continuing in the footsteps of people like Malcolm X, who criticized Christianity for making people docile to oppression because they're so willing to forgive, and their willinginess to accept injustice on Earth because they're led to believe in the land of milk and honey in the afterlife and that all those who sinned against them in this world will be punished later.

Kendrick's kinda saying, instead of just loving everybody all the time - like the usual Christian message - if we recognize that God punishes the wicked, then we too shouldn't be as willing to accept the evil we see in daily life. Now, coming from Kendrick who also routinely voices a heavy political message, I feel this more has to do with calling out guys like Trump for their wickedness as opposed to people in this thread who are making it seem like Kendrick was speaking about homosexuals, abortion, etc. etc.

Kendrick constantly discusses socio-economic issues, and I think it would make more sense if he was making this religious point to talk about those in positions of wealth and power who exalt themselves highly, meanwhile the people in the streets are starving and killing one another. As opposed to making this about 'Kendrick wants us to not mix wool and cotton, stone homosexuals, and not work on the Sabbath'.

But I'm an atheist, so that's just coming from an outside perspective. :manny:

Kendrick obviously was brought up in a Christian household...this is him exploring that particular box/believe system...that's something that EVERYBODY is going to have to do, athiests included because while you may no have a "believe" you still have a belief system. You can't really find out who you are without really digging into your belief systems.

To me it sounds like Kendrick while still influenced by Christianity is explorting it from an angle of defiance almost...of course he's not going to throw it out he window especially since "god" has blessed him to be in this position. But I don't think it's going to stop/start at him becoming Kirk Franklin, he's going to use his rap as a vehicle for exploring his religious beliefs.

I think that's cool, I'm more on Ab-Souls wavelenght when it comes to that, more spritual than religious so I resonate with his album which dives into the belief system in great depth but he's allowed to work through this stuff in his music, you don't like it don't listen.

Nah. You can believe in whatever you want, just make sure you hold urself accountable for your thoughts and actions. Stop giving all the credit to God and the Devil.
My problem is why do Atheists try so hard to convert people who believe. How does me believing in God affect your day to day activities?

He's right and that's why I don't really want anything to do with Christianity

And it alienates the fukk out of me from my family and a great portion of the Black community because when questioned (and only when questioned...don't be a prick) I'm very honest about not giving a flying fukk about the church or the religion connected to it.

ALL of them too...I don't give a fukk if you're Catholic, Baptist, Mormon, I have no interest in the shyt.

And the thing is Christians gets SOOOOO OFFENDED :laff:

They they do that stupid passive aggressive response shyt "I'll pray for you" or other assorted bullshyt

Atheist are the least likely to try covert people. You got it backwards. I never know who is an atheist till one of you slave minded people try to spread the word even when people ain't trying to hear that bullshyt.

I do a lot of work w/ non profits.

The money some of these churches are making is crazy.
Some of them have their hands in so many pots in the neighborhoods.
The average person would have no idea (there money comes in from more places than the church).

Its not just churches though...a lot of these "community organizations" are a hustle for those running it.
Its a easy check every month/year from the government...and they have entire areas locked down.
Cosign, most (not all) of these pastors nowadays are borderline comical, insincere/seem like a front. Can you expound a bit more on your findings/connection with the government? As far as the church that is. (I get how non profits are a money grab). I've assumed this as well with these millionaire pastors using the church as a tax break.

Both sides are equally annoying :coffee:

Christians have Evangilists who's mission is to spread the word. People either accept or dont and they go on about they business.

What mission is the Atheist's? To ridicule and disparage believers. Which is more heinous?

How many atheist programs you see on TV? How many atheists are proselytizing on street corners? How many atheists go door to door asking people to join their church?

Truth be told atheists don't give a fukk about none of that shyt. Believers believe and atheists ask why. That's it.

Any amount of a$$hole atheists out there are a drop in the bucket to the a$$hole believers affecting laws and assaulting people who think differently.

So let me ask... What's your problem again?

Is that what you really think happens? Can you tell that to the subway preachers screaming in my ears every morning?
