did anybody watch the video? he wasn't preaching to stay away from molly at all, he was basically on some "death of autotune" shyt. saying its corny for rap, not that its dangerous.

Yeh he's more so saying the reference is redundant .

Like back in the day everyone referencing D Bo every other song .
Everyone mentioning Kurt Cobain .
Every rapper mentioning Ciroc , or the same designer labels.

His point is the repetition in the trends is corny for the music.

:dead: at people in here writing essays about the good and bad about Molly

No one gives a fukk about molly, Kendricks just talking about all the "She on that Molly", "One More Molly" "Mollys in Her Mouth" "Molly Molly" type tracks and how it's corny that these grown ass men are dikkriding trends they don't even participate in.

Swimming pools is not a celebration of alcohol... Do u nikkaz really need to get songs broken down for u? :heh:

It sounds like a party song on the surface, take a closer look.

This is all very interesting considering in the last song he put out (the UEONO remix) one of the members in his group mentioned doing Molly.

They are all their own person. What he says is his feelings on the topic... Also the q line was just a flip of Ross lyrics on the same song.

Lastly, Marijuana and alcohol are drugs that are impacting our community on a far greater scale than molly ever could.

agree about alcohol, disagree about marijuana.

maybe because im from california, but my prescription did wonders for neuropain after surgery, as well as insomnia. it was either that or poppin opiates and sleeping pills. (liver killers and od'ers)

I'll take the plant, thanks. :smoker:

Q is alllllways talking about drugs, Molly included.

Either way, it's all interesting to me. I don't know why dudes are arguing about it though, lol.

He is talking about liquor, that was never in question. However the song is not about encouraging drinking it is about seeing alcohol abuse every where around him. It is a catchy song with a message. If he beat people over the head by preaching it would be a turn off for most. The other poster suggested that Kendrick was pro alcohol on the song but he is playing an observation role as in write what I see not tell u to drink.

Look at how the verses break down

First verse he says he grew up around people living their lives in bottles aka alcoholic. Then gives u examples using his grandpa and reasons why people might do it "drown their sorrows".

Hook comes in and it is about peer pressure "why are u baby sitting your drink" etc something a homie might say to u.

Second verse is about his own conscious struggling with alcohol thus the weird voice and referring himself in third person . this is personal reflection.

Just take in the words again on the surface it might be a party record but not really. I believe most rappers who write like this often fail to balance social commentary with entertainment. Like Lupe and his terribly executed bytch bad song :scusthov:
