It'll be interesting to see where things go from here. I think a large amount of people bought the record not only because it was good, but because they wanted to make a point to prove that hip-hop with substance could sell. Almost a sense of obligation, though not in a negative way. I'm not sure if the people who liked this album would buy something else of comparable quality just based on how good it is.
Hopefully it does start a trend though, both with consumers and with labels. I definitely copped it opening week, and I still listen to it regularly.
