if you're not from LA/Cali then you wouldn't understand the relationship, but outside of gang related stuff, the two sides are on good terms and Cali has always been like this. even asians and middle eastern folks say the word.

After listening to the album more during the weekend. Just like I thought. This album gets better the more you listen to it. First listen I gave it an 7.5. Now I give it an 8.5. Shyt in time It may be even a 9 or so. I can’t believe I wasn’t fukkin with Luther on first listen. I like every song, but GNX song is the weakest. Could’ve left that one off.

REINCARNATED!!!

EDIT: I still think this was a project he decided to make (out the blue) to give back to the underground, the west coast, and to have a couple more new songs to perform for the superbowl. The actual album will have all the big features and concepts etc. The leaks before the beef said he had a mixtape, and an album, and at that point one was called “gemini”, and the other was called “throne of blood”. It’s all just rumors though of course.
I had the same opinion at first regarding GNX, but kept replaying it and it grew on me. Hitta J3 slid on that beat :wow:

Spics were a big factor in Trump winnin election. 55% of em voted for that orange cac. I don't care bout goofy Cali politics that place get clowned on everywhere ain't the 90s no more and no Black and brown coalition. Apparently this spic rapper said he'd never let his daughter date a Black man too. Just mad goofy havin him on this. asians and middle easterns sayin nikka is worse but from what I seen from Cali Gen Z tiktok gen those c00ns been done so no surprise.

I think him and SZA make magic together. Summer Walker on “Purple Hearts” was a head scratcher though. SMH

Agreed on both accounts. Kendrick is a stunningly good songwriter for pop/r&b. He wrote the All The Stars hook/melody, he wrote SZA's hook on Redemption (the Jay Rock song), he wrote Victoria Monet's parts on an amazing leaked track that didn't make Mr Morale (can't remember the name but it's on youtube).

Not that I want to turn this into a Drake/Cole thing but I think it's wild that Kendrick's the only one of those three that seems to constantly understand his melodies work best underneath an actual singer. Which requires chemistry and studio time, something that a lot of rappers have no interest in right now. It blows my mind that Drake hasn't gotten in the studio with Babyface or anyone who can elevate his melodies beyond the nursery rhyme notes he's been doing for a decade plus. Likewise Cole could really elevate his shyt by just throwing Ari Lenox vocals over his at times. It just sounds better.

I think Cole prefers to sing his own hooks because it makes the songs more “earnest” and you can feel his passion. That plus Cole is a true soloist that doesn’t rely on features to do the heavy lifting for him which to be fair helped set him apart at a time where rap was REALLY on that “Throw a famous bytch on a hook/there ya go with a platinum CD”.

It works for Cole in a way that it wouldn’t/doesn’t work for most other rappers. I respect Cole for taking on the challenge of being a true Auteur with his projects. He takes pride in doing it himself which is the opposite of someone like Drake.

Kendrick is simply a genius who intuitively knows when someone else can evoke his ideas/message/themes better and when he himself is best suited for it. Examples would be him singing on Mirror verses Anna Wise and Bilal singing on These Walls. He understands melody in a way many actual musicians struggle to.
