Where The Grass Is Blue
Heart Pt 6 is really one of the greatest songs of this year.

That SWV sample is just too GOATED and the story telling is just chef kiss, by far my favorite song on this joint :wow:
The fact Pharrell produced the original is the ultimate:salute:from Kendrick

Real culture shifting song

I don't have a problem with the content it's the style, you can write an entire song about Black women and not literally say 'Black women' at all. For example, The Light by Common, I've been noticing this more and more in modern hiphop, a lot of references to politics, militancy and Black women come off forced to me.

It's especially funny coming from Kendrick with his girl and all his past lyrics.
I hear you, and can certainly understand your issue with the lack of nuance around that, where there's no subtext to the art - a sentiment that I wholeheartedly agree with.

However, Kendrick's not mincing any of his words on this joint, so stylstically, it wouldn't really fit with him brutally slaughtering everyone in his path and then not being literal with crackas talking down on Black women. He's pulling no punches throughout (anyone can get it), so that line fits tonally more than if he were to allude to it in some fanciful manner.
