This is the actual album. People since DAMN have always speculate that Kendrick is dropping a second part to his album and he never does :russ:
Kendrick's team have been saying more is coming. Hitta said more was coming and keem said everyone disappointed their verse didn't make it need to be patient.

When damn dropped all of the speculation was just internet rumors.

Releases that have entered the top 10,000 of everything (albums, EPs, singles, mixtapes, DJ mixes, compilations, videos, bootlegs) overall will be shown in bold text on artist pages.

All of Dot’s albums are bolded on there, which is a high bar to achieve.

Lots of his singles and stuff too.

We're in the same book but different pages.

I don't think Kendrick is uncomfortable on those beats at all...if anything the voice fuçkery takes a level of confidence and deliberation a lot of people don't have.

I'd also say the TDE heads if they nudge him at all would've nudged for exactly this album. We have to remember that TPAB was the direction Kendrick wanted to go first but he had to compromise on GKMC. I think they've encouraged him to play ball with the mainstream instead being the Lupe 2.0 he could've been.

At first I didn't agree with the pressure angle but upon your second post I kinda get it. But I believe this direction was still largely him. Even though I said I was let down by the missed chance to get on his cultural soapbox, I do think that boiling down to a Cali street sound is his personal defense/protest against where things are, as South Central LA is a Black American cultural nexus and he chose to wear it on his forehead.
Yep I think he has every right to use the current sound of LA as he was born and raised in the heart of it. I think he could’ve used it in a cleverer way though as a Trojan horse to talk about some real cultural topics as you said, similar to what he did with GKMC. Admittedly I haven’t listened to it since the first run through but the structure in terms of narrative, message, lyrics, etc doesn’t seem to be there as it was on GKMC, TPAB or Big Steppers - it seems to be a bunch of songs he was working on and he decided to put them out as a project because of the momentum he has.

Which is also why I don’t think he would’ve been able to put this out on TDE as they don’t just throw out random projects, especially for their more established acts. They’re always a lot more considered - sometimes too considered with releases and rollouts which is why they’ve had issues with artists like Soul, SZA, Reason, etc. Even in regards to the production choices, I can’t think of one TDE project that sounds like this in their discography - they’ve always presented themselves as an avant garde alternative to the typical LA sound which is why I think GKMC was more a compromise with Interscope than TDE as that was his major label debut. Movie on Blue Lips sounds like this production wise….it’s the only track though and Schoolboy doesn’t even rap on it - he leaves it for AZChike as a solo song.
