Seeing a YT podcaster call Luther and Dodger Blue skips just confirms my long-standing take they don’t appreciate the importance of R&B and Soul to Hip-Hop.

All of us grew up with our parents, aunties, uncles or grandparents blasting Luther so hearing a track with him, Dot and SZA was magical.
Bruh.

I’ve replayed those two, the most.
I don’t understand how they are skips

I’ve switched up again.

Gloria is now the best song on the album. That concept has been done before, but I don’t think any one of them had me fooled like Kendrick’s version did at the end reveal.

Never been a SZA album listener, but she killed that too.

Whether or not an idea has been done doesn't really matter to me. It's about the execution. I like seeing different takes on the same idea. And Kendrick killed this. Nothing was forced. It came off organic and genuine. He pulled it off so nicely I was low-key heated when he revealed it was about his pen. Like breh, you got me over here misty eyed over your muthafukkin pen:what:

And he revealed it in such an a$$hole tone too:martin:

"Ain't no bytch like my bytch
Cause that bytch, been my PEN"
:stopitslime::smugdraper:

That's how you know he executed it well though:mjlol:.....what makes the track so emotional isn't even the pen. It's that Kendrick came from a lot of pain. And writing was the only escape he had. His therapy. His comfort zone. And that's why he's the greatest song writer of our lifetime. Writing isn't a job to him. It's his passion.

Gotta be young nikkas or cacs. Soul and R&B are in the DNA of rap, just like Jazz and Funk. I think it's just some "I don't know the origins." Ass people.

This is why I like to have a face to an opinion

Villa Straylight.
Yup. You can absolutely have that convo.

I still got Pac & Nas over him but he’s coming for them.
I don't think it even needs to be that. He's their legacy. You can hear it in this album. Nas said it Kendrick is pushing what they did forward. He's keeping that same spirit alive. He'll probably be making music in his 50's like Nas is now. I doubt that lineage continues in the generations after him.
