Let's revisit the narratives that Kendrick "can't make bangers" and "don't get play in the clubs" these are tired old narratives that Drake dikkeaters used to try to cling on to even though it's never been accurate.

Every single time Kendrick has decided to make a "club record" he's come through and crushed the buildings whether it's "Humble" or "DNA" or the Black Panther Soundtrack or "Not Like Us" or now multiple tracks off this album like "Squabble Up" or "TV Off"

And here's one more thing.... He does these with NO FEATURES.... :mjlol:

big facts in this post.

tv off was clearly gonna be another diss track. That nikka dot was going for the double tap.:scust:

There are several beats on this album with that aggressive type energy. Dot said he had ten more in stock but Aubrey took his ball and went to his Lawyer’s office so Kendrick just said “fukk it” and made an album.

He's one of my favorites but I find it interesting people love him more now that he's dumbing down. Some of these songs are definitely Eminem encore status. Which is ironic since he's such a stan. But I feel right now he could fart on a record and people would hype it up. Like 04 em

That's crazy disrespectful to this album.
Outside of like 3 tracks that album was universally panned.

Him going to a more commercial sound is not equivalent to that trash :scust:

He might’ve dumbed down on some songs, the club ones, but the difference is 1) beat choices verses em’s best choices, 2) Kendrick is black at the end of the day… he grew up with school yard jokes and clapping back. Every club song on here has 1 liners and phrases that connect

Damn I never put that together. A lot of these tracks sound like they could have been potential disses that morphed into album songs. Which would mean a lot of this was recorded over the last few months.

The title track was recorded a week before the album dropped, and I just saw the producer of Dodger Blue say that song was made two months ago. Makes you wonder what Kendrick was working on before these recent sessions.

Seeing a YT podcaster call Luther and Dodger Blue skips just confirms my long-standing take they don’t appreciate the importance of R&B and Soul to Hip-Hop.

All of us grew up with our parents, aunties, uncles or grandparents blasting Luther so hearing a track with him, Dot and SZA was magical.
There were people who thought love and loyalty were low points on DAMN.

I said songs. This is a good album(but easily his worst for me). I'm just not a fan of his club tracks. They do kind of grow on you though. The title track is got awful. Terrible beat and weed plate features
