There's no problem with enjoying aquemini more, the preference and feeling you got from the music is subjective.
But it's still not a better album than Kid A.
You just contradicted yourself :skip:

Plus, you ain't give a reason why kid a is better than aquemini

But we can conclude the obvious reason as to why you may feel that way :mjpls:

Interesting

I would love to see your top 5 albums just in general

I feel like 80s and 90s rap albums was held to certain limits compared to other genres especially prog rock Radiohead ( who I kinda like) type albums

I have to dap and rep you because this is a discussion point for a hip hop message board
Tbh on average the typical beat makers from the 90s simply didn't know anything about Bebop scales or Altered scales, syncopation and polyrhythms, shifting keys several times throughout a song, writing charts for several instruments or other more complex musical ideas...we did have some rappers/producers that tried to introduce these ideas (Chronic, Outkast albums,...) but it really doesn't mean shyt if you can't do it right. Thats why lllmatic is probably the only rap album from the 90s that get ranked high on these respected all time lists (in any musical genre). That album was just perfect. It benefits from the fact it was simple and more basic from a musical standpoint, but at least the shyt Nas did, he did it right. Other than him, you basically have to check more modern hip hop artists if you wanna see rap albums getting heavy praise in the music world...thats where you find Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West,...

My top 5 all time? I'd have a list for my best albums, and one for my "favorite albums"

To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar
Kid A - Radiohead
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Ok Computer - Radiohead

On my favorite albums list, I'd probably replace Pink Floyd & The Beatles with Nina Simone and Prince.

I didn't... the feeling you get from music has always been considered as subjective, but that doesn't have anything to do with the quality itself.

Imo there's a huge difference between "what I enjoy" and "what I think is better"

TPAB is number one for me because GKMC falters a little after SAMIDOT. TPAB is pretty much a flawless album
I disagree about gkmc but I see what you mean

Sing about me is the climax of the album but two songs after feels like the bonus tracks

Sing about me just has that feeling of finality to it that always throws me off when I listen to the full album

Like, "Damn, that was a movie for real :mjcry:

*"Real" starts playing*

Wait. Oh yeah we got more to go still :dahell: "

Mmmm
I don't want to derail, but I have other reasons why rap gets the short stick from the Grammys and other publications

Save it for another thread
