Let’s talk about it
The beauty in Mr Morale is he condensed the lyricism from TPAB and presented it in a way that could be digested without sacrificing any effectiveness.
TPAB he is at the highest point in his career with how vast his intellect can be as a writer but the problem I always had with that album is the vocal delivery he illustrated throughout the entirety of that project. The alien voices, him enunciating the end of words so overtly, there’s songs I legit felt I was listening to the rambles of a mad scientist just from his delivery.
He essentially used Mr Morale as the album he’d play around with manipulating his vocals, how to go from sad to happy to depressed to tired all seamlessly.
Mother I Sober, Auntie Diaries and Count Me Out are perfect examples:
…..And he did all of that while articulating a high end thought process. And of course it doesn’t hurt that album’s sound quality & production values are top tier. With him dedicating so much time to vocal arrangements it’s allowed him to tap into what we heard on the 2nd verse of:

He was not as effortless with his vocals before Mr Morale and because of that I’m right there with you.

For me, Its the only Kendrick album that I consider to be inconsistent, the most songs I dislike across any other Kendrick project is usually 2, 3 at the absolute most, Whereas I dislike around half of Mr Morale
Dont get me wrong, the highs are very high..United In Grief, N95, Rich Spirit, Die Hard, Father Time, Count Me Out…but all in all I only like 9 or 10 tracks out of the 18
Damn, the only thing I really do not like if anything are the Kodak interludes. Everything else is good at worst.

The kodaks songs are my favorite tbh
But yeah Mr Morale is probably my favorite after TPAB. Thats his most consistent release, also his most layered and most musically accomplished project after TPAB
When I say inconsistent, I mean personally to me in the sense that, I’m used to not having to really skip on a Kendrick album, but I find myself not really enjoying every other track, I think a lot of it for me is the production, I just don’t really fukk with the album like that, it’s not wack at all…it’s just not on that level of his others imo
