The worst thing nikkas could've done was make this a West Coast vs Everybody thing. Young Money doofs really fukked up when they jumped out the window with that Wayne shyt.

Peekabo my Jam. I still haven't heard the last 3 songs because I always hit repeat on Peekaboo

GNX is hard you need to listen to that. "AYE IM TRIPPIN AND IM LOVIN IT!"

"Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey that's my bytch" is gonna have those stadiums JUMPING :russ:

Peekaboo is one of my favorite Kendrick records now. 60% of this album is him talking greasy :mjlol:

1. TBAP
2. Section.80
3. GNX
4. GKMC
5. Mr Morale & The Big Steppers
6. DAMN
7. Overly Dedicated
8. Untitled

Top 6 are all 5 mic classics to me that I will probably never get tired of playing. They could come out in any order depending on what I'd been listening to recently tbh. Had HiiiPower and Kush & Corinthians on while I was cooking earlier and GNX just feels fresher that GKMC this week.

However you cut it dropping industry-shaking, zeitgeist classics 12 years apart and being at the peak of your power and popularity 15 years into a career is insane for any musician. Most artists, even most of the greats, are pale imitations of their younger selves by this point.

Dot's cemented in the Pantheon.
Big respect for that Section 80 placement! I feel like there's a segment of fans that don't really know Section 80 or maybe they came on only after GKMC and so they don't rank it as high.

Plus there was a crazy narrative that Section 80 "doesn't count as an album" because he released it independently :dahell:

It's a full blown album not a mixtape. It's a great album.

Akademiks is live, during the rapcity freestyle segment, he said drake lost his deal after the kendrick beef :mjlol:

No reason to believe this without actual sources. Drake's new shyt isn't earning like the old shyt but CLB and FATD still sold very well. If they wanted to fukk with Drake they'd simply cut the promo/playlist help/etc on the next album, not drop him.

Kendricks pen on s80 wasn't nearly as polished as it was on GKMC. Both in lyrics and song structure. He was great on section 80 but he elevated to all time great on Good Kid. When I first heard "Money trees" I was in complete awe. That's when I knew he was the one. Nothing on section 80 was on that level from a pure song writing standpoint.

Section 80's sequencing and production was also all over the place. I hold s80 in the same regard as OutKast southernplayalistic. Elite potential shown. But still very unpolished as an overall artist. Everything just came together on good kid and he never looked back. Section 80 was a necessary step in his journey, but I will always place it last in his catalog. Kendrick is a completely different level than he was then.
