Concert was incredible.
-Kendrick is a MASTER performer. The man’s breath control is just astounding. He performed every song with little to no backing tracks, zero hype men, energy on 10 for every song, he didn’t take not ONE second off while on stage. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand the entire time.
-I knew SZA was popular, but I didn’t quite know HOW popular. I know maybe like 4 SZA solo songs so I wasn’t ready for every woman in the stadium to know her songs word for word. And she didn’t disappoint, she sang just like Kendrick rapped, no backing vocals, no lip syncing, she did a hell of a job.
- This should go without saying, but both Kendrick and SZA have a large white following. It was white people in there that was rapping m.A.A.d City like it was the Lord’s Prayer. It was hilarious watching the white guy directly in front of me omit saying nikka as he rapped, dude didn’t slip up not ONCE lmao. White women were losing their MINDS for SZA. There was white girl who was dressed up as a mustard bottle who kept SCREAMING SZA lyrics at the top of her lungs I thought ole girl was going to go horse. I’m not the biggest fan of 30 for 30 mostly for personal reasons but if there were no Luther, trust, by the crowd reaction THAT joint would be the 10 week number charting song.
-The stage setup and the pyrotechnics were awesome. At one point SZA was floating through the air while singing. Both Kendrick and SZA had rising platforms when they did All of The Stars. You can tell they spared no expense putting this show together and it made for a great experience.
-The deposition skit videos were cool but i could take them or leave them. The best video was near the end with Kendrick and SZA at a gas station arguing about snacks. It was really funny and highlighted the chemistry between the two. They really come off like siblings or close cousins.
-No special guests other than Carti, who honestly didn’t really add anything. He was a glorified hype man for his own song and several people around were wondering why he was just yelling and grunting.
-Kendrick rapping Swimming Pools and m.A.A.d City to the Anita Baker Sweet Love instrumental needs to be released on DSP’s. It’s THAT fukking good.
-Humble is the TRUTH live
-Not Like Us is the TRIPLE TRUTH live
-Luther is an all time smash hit. It’s going to continue its reign atop the charts into the summer. Muthafukkas ADORE that song.
-Kendrick performed N95. I think this was the first time he’s done it on this tour.
-Also for those saying that Kendrick couldn’t sell out Stadiums if it was just him solo. I beg to differ for one reason, women fukking LOVE Kendrick. All the women, white, black, latino, whatever, knew the lyrics to EVERY song word for word. Not just the love songs, i’m talking Euphoria, Like That, Swimming Pools, Man in the Garden, Peakaboo, ALL OF IT. nikkas would go see Kendrick, but their wives and girls would want to come too. I think Kendrick could definitely do a stadium tour solo and sell out like he has been.
Overall it was a 10/10 show. I thought i’d be bored by the SZA sections as i’m not a huge fan and don’t know most of her catalogue but she really put on a great performance. I see why she is who she is and she’s definitely worthy of co-headlining.
Make no mistake though, this is Kendrick’s show. There was not ONE song he performed that didn’t have everybody up on their feet rapping line for line. Even songs like Man in the Garden and Count Me Out, you’d think they were muthafukking Billie Jean and Beat It the way everybody was grooving when he performed them.
For those wondering, it’s about an 80% GNX album heavy show. The next most songs he performed were from Damn, then GKMC and from TPAB he only did Alright and I think a little bit of King Kunta.
