Right. None of the rappers from this generation are on the same level as a Rakim, a Big Pun, a Big L, etc.
I think what happens is, some people are so desperate for 'real hip hop' that they'll praise anybody who even makes an attempt to spit hot bars.

Like nikkas saying Kendrick out rapped Jay Electronica on control. I just don't get it...Kendrick verse was nice but it was all over the place. Jay Electron's verse was more terse, consistent and meaningful in my opinion.

I see what you're saying, by and large I agree. I think people wanna hype up people of their generation to try and legitimize them, but because it's forced it just sounds and feels fake. I bet you'll have dudes on here trying to convince us Kendrick better than Rakim lol. Or Kane, not even close yet. If someone steps up and surpasses them cool, but right now with these cats it ain't happening. Let's see what Chris Rivers does though.

being boring is the weak argument people use when they want to talk about an artist who has both commercial & critical success

"People love him, people buy his music and hes praised for being the best artist out there but I don't like him... damn lets make a thread and say hes boring"

Really? Biggie had "commercial & critical success" and I never found him to be boring. Same goes for Hov.

At the end of the day, it comes down to personal taste. Kendrick just seems like a manufactured artist. Like an industry implant, put here to capitalize on people's demand for "deep" music. It just doesn't seem genuine. I kinda feel the same way about Joey Bada$$, although I like his music more than Kendrick's.

Straight out the fukkin' dungeons of rap
i cant see how kendrick is "manufactured" and not authentic

I hear GKMC and see a well executed storytelling album from someone not trying to be anything but himself.
is he overhyped? a little bit. im not gonna call him the next pac or anything but an excellent album is an excellent album :ehh:

dude is one of the most versatile mcees I have heard... very far from being boring

he actually gave me faith in hip hop again

you disappointed me.

to answer op, hes one of the most entertaining rappers out there, and hes very, very talented.

OP probably mad because kendrick is praised for having some of the best albums of this generation :yeshrug:

thats what every hater say about every rapper getting praise for being goats or future goats :smugfavre:

boring thread and terrible troll attempt

and hes actually very charismatic

the ruler stay being the worst member on this forum.

kdot is far from being safe LMFAO, and I agree with what goerge clinton said (someone who hasn't praised anybody on that level).. kendrick is so versatile, he has the musical knowledge to become the next Prince. (george's words)

GKMC and MBDTF are the two albums of the '10s that get lauded more than anything else. Ive listened to both many times and I dont hear it.
Both have good songs, but nothing gave me that feeling of when I was younger and heard, say, Shut em down remix, for the first time.

the kid who dropped 2 of the best albums in the past 5 years? no he is not boring, hes actually very entertaining

Kendrick is at a point in his career where haters are going to try and balance out the massive amounts of love he's been receiving with shade, whether it be consciously or subconsciously. he's one of the better rappers right now. Dude obviously takes pride in his art instead of half assing it (respect), he actually RAPS (respect), helping to bring back the lyrical aspect to the mainstream (respect), brings something new to the table while going platinum (respect), has artistic integrity by not trying to milk that Lady Gaga feature (respect), boycotted the whole GQ magazine thing (respect), and he tries putting a message in his music (respect). He's putting in work, actually cares about hip hop, and is relatively humble while doing it, I don't see why wouldn't deserve the praise.

he dropped 2 of the best albums in YEARS and you ca nbe sure his third album gonna be even better. Will you liek him? probably not, but michael jackson, bob dylan and a lot of other goats also had people who didn't like their music

lol at trying to disrespect our king like that

been listning to gkmc every day since 2012 so no, I have to disagree with this thread

being boring is the weak argument people use when they want to talk about an artist who has both commercial & critical success

"People love him, people buy his music and hes praised for being the best artist out there but I don't like him... damn lets make a thread and say hes boring"

*clears your throne* Dog, same shyt i been saying for YEARS. You already laid it out, and the idiots will remain silent tho. Thnx.
:dead: kendrick must be about to drop soon the industry accounts are back look:mjlol:

Kendrick is the greatest example of an industry experiment, whom has had all his success financed.
He's the only nikka that is supposed to be hot but no one outside the internet and paid celebrities are talking about.
No one rolls around bumping GKMC.
Kendrick was never hot in these streets, clubs etc. It's all a farce.
Which is why every big show he has is at a festival that would exist rather he's there or not.
He can not hold down an arena tour cause he's really not hot and really didnt sell a million albums.
His whole career is about interscope force feeding him to you while trying to sale merch and booking him at festivals, pretending he's in hiphop's elite. Making their promo money back mostlikely through a 360 deal.

This. Everybody saying Kendrick is GOAT didn't even know who he was until 2012. :comeon: Prior to "Swimming Pools" he would be just another slept on underground rapper from Cali. shyt, 90% of these casual Rap fans weren't even checking for Cali Rap, period, prior to that. :scust: What made K Dot was the Dr. Dre co-sign + being from Compton + being a nonviolent intelligent rapper. Non-Cali people, especially suburban cacs, believed the stereotype that Compton was "the ghetto of all ghettos". I, mean, every black male from Compton is an animal who will kill you for wearing the wrong color and walking through his neighborhood, right? :feedme: fukk outta here with that racist shyt. Whenever you talk about the hood in California, that's where all the negative white people ghetto fraternity house party stereotypes come from. :scusthov: When I tell white people on the East Coast I'm from the hood in Cali, they always reference Compton. :scusthov: :childplease:. The biggest fanbase I've seen for K. Dot are suburban Starbucks drinking cacs who want to look like they are knowledgeable about Hip Hop. :shaq2:
