I'm not big on Kendrick much either. Don't mind him, but he could be better IMO. Think he's a bit bland - he can rap, sure, and I do think he's a capable lyricist, but just needs more substance for me. He's OK though, I don't think he's as boring as some of the rappers I've heard in the last couple years.

i wouldn't call Kendrick boring at all and i'm not someone thats :krs: over everything he does.

the only rapper that has a quite big fanbase and seems to get put on some sort of pedestal that i think is genuinely boring is Cole.
i know people say it about him all the time but it's true..respect what he's did off the mic and what he achieved on it but he brings nothing to the table for me as a rapper or producer.

Yeah, I don't think anyone's saying he's 1 of the worst rappers. just that he's overhyped and not elite. At best GKMC was a 3 mic album to me. I think often his lyrics lack potency, more style than substance in a sense. I agree with the substance bit too, needs more substance in the lyrics and in general. If you ask what does Kendrick stand for? The answer doesn't really jump out at you. You ask that about any great like 2 Pac, KRS-One, Nas etc in most cases it jumps out at you. He's too safe for me, mechanic, I'm not hearing anything that's grabbing me as a listener.
