XXL and The Source are irrelevant and their ratings dont matter anymore

not to sound like a cac or a hipster but in todays age the Pitchfork review (before you start - i dont find them credible) holds a lot more weight :manny:

XXL rates albums from "S" (poor) to "XXL" (classic). Initially, editors awarded XXL status to only nine albums:

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill
The Blueprint by Jay-Z
Get Rich or Die Tryin' by 50 Cent
Be by Common
Late Registration by Kanye West
Hell Hath No Fury by Clipse
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West
Life Is Good by Nas
good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar

They gave Gang Starr's Full Clip XXL as well

A later issue in December 2007 re-rated and retroactively rated some albums and gave XXLs to:

The Chronic by Dr. Dre *
Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) by Wu-Tang Clan *
Illmatic by Nas *
The Diary by Scarface *
The Infamous by Mobb Deep *
All Eyez on Me by 2Pac *
Reasonable Doubt by Jay-Z *
The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory by 2Pac *
Life After Death by The Notorious B.I.G. *
2001 by Dr. Dre
The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem
The Lost Tapes by Nas
The College Dropout by Kanye West

Asterisk (*) denotes an album that was released before the existence of XXLe, meaning this is their original rating, not a re-rate.

:whoa:

this album is good, but it doesn't belong with that list

As much as I love TDE, Kendrick Lamar, and this album, this is one of those moments in life where I think to myself..........XXL Magazine.......ok XXL Magazine....mmmmmm, Interscope..........hmmmmm.....XXL MAgazine & Interscope.....hmmmmm.......there's a history between Interscope and XXL Magazine that takes some of the umph away from this review and rating.

in the murder capital where we murda for capital
rating aside because i could care less what anyone else thinks and it wont sway my decision to purchase an album, this joint here is a very very dope hip hop album, the only time i ever relied on a rating to sway me to listen to an album was when i saw that blu & exile BTH got 10 out of 10 of rapreviews.com, i instantly wanted to know why, and well i found out why... way to go kendrick and tde, lets hope jay rock drop a dope album next

^stop being naive. we already knew they were gonna try to give kendrick a perfect rating before the album was even finished.

and i dont even know why yall bother with most of these website ratings. the majority of the "well-known" sites are taking money under the table for most of their reviews.

Dr. Dre though, need to give the big homie props.
Straight Outta Compton, No One can do it better, Chronic, Doggystyle, SSLP, GRODT, The documentary and now this? Dude has nothing but legendary debuts. Even though he didn't produce it, he was instrumental in the whole making of this artist and he did what he does best mixed it.

All of a sudden magazine ratings are legit and now artists get ratings they "deserve" :laff:

We gon act like this nikka ain't have one of the lamest and most obvious marketing push in recent hip hop history? This nikka was literally on nobody's radar for years but he drops Swimming Pools a few months ago and now he's on BET and MTV and getting all these awards and accolades?

:laff: :laff:

it's sad when the supposed "real hip hop" fans start supporting manufactured hype
