People say Eminem still top tier but hasn't been quoted since mmlp.

The reality though is that being quotable means talking slow enough and using the fewest syllables per bar so the average idiot can understand.

High syllable lyricists aren't really quoted..

People love bone thugs n twists but ain't nobody quoting their lyrics.

Hay z ain't been quoted since blueprint

nikkas equate being influential with how easy it is to dupe what you do...

Changing the way people think/rap > People flipping your well known lines.

Drake is pioneering international music :what:, do you know how much love he gets globally?

He's just riding the fence between hip hop and pop, plus he's garnering even more attention and tapping a bigger UK market because he's made connections with grime rappers , which is why his fan base is so large

I see no progress since If you're reading this its too late

The extreme fame obviously stunted his growth as a man. He's still mentally 23/24. That's why the subject matter never evolved. The rest mostly opinions.

Houston, by way of Pittsburgh.
So ITT nikkas will tell you having quotables is not a factor in being lyrically good.

the coli

Who has improved lyrically Bar for bar tho? The rap game in general has been way less lyrical and more melody driven. Drake, Cole, Sean and Kendrick came with more bars in their mixtape days. Nowadays nikkas do concept albums, singsongy trap flows or crooning.

Kendrick's bars were better in the section 80 days especially on the features. His features now have been garbage like Sidewalks or Goosebumps

Coles verses were WAY hotter in the FNL days

Wale has lyrically been more or less the same. Been struggling hard with his sound

Sean is the only one who has grown trying to find himself out of his punchline rapper box, his bars were tighter before but now his projects are actually good. but he still drops cheesy bars @ inopportune times like that "picking princess in mario kart" jawn off I decided.

All of them can drop raw verses when they want to they just do it on the throwaways. Heart Part 4, Back to Back, No More Interviews, False Prophets etc

Cool. Drake still isn't bar for bar better tho lol

One thing for sure, after the album buildup, album release and Coachella performances (into necessarily talking about the performance itself, but the fact he closed) this dude solidified himself in pop world popularity.

I was there for the events and area for both weekends and Kendrick's hype train with fans of all-types and ages is definitely transcendent or has the capability to do it. People were really vibing out to the new stuff.

Popstar to me just means a mainstream name, in this case a mainstream rapper. So I definitely think Kendrick has popstar/mainstream rapper status.

This goes to say Kendrick doesn't even have to keep going next level every album to solidify a mainstream name, he's already done that. Random people know Kendrick Lamar is a rapper, even though they can't name any song names or have to think about it for a few, just like how we know who Adele is but some of us can't name any of her songs.

Only reason why dude would keep making better albums every release is he's going for the GOAT title.

:laff: Cole and Sean. AND Ross.

Proof online niccas just irrationally hate Drake and don't really talk objectively.

"Those tracks are cool and everything" :mjlol: desperate to downplay anything.

Go listen to j Cole talk about folding clothes. Cole and Sean just dropped forgettable projects that didn't have impact at all
Bro stay in Canada ive been hearing Ross getting played all thru the hood and the radio, and sean has been getting tons of play the last 3 parties i went to were bumbing seans new shyt as well, its funny you nikkas over the border trying to tell us whats hot in the states.

Now Cole on the other hand besides neighbors and his poor attempt at redoing Tillers song its been crickets.
