^ must be why one of the songs is considered as the new national black anthem :wow:

Personally I can't go out without hearing it being played in the street :wow:

what an achievement for an album that wasn't supposed to be played outside

So TPAB:

-The consensus AOTY (according to the critics, its also #1 on 90% of the end year lists)
-the reason kendrick has the most nominations at the grammy in one night (since Michael Jackson in 1984)
-has 2 songs being played in protests, one of them is named the new official black anthem
-being taught at some universities
-influenced some goat artists like Dr Dre, David Bowie, Prince and Chuck D (all in the same year)
-the highest rated album of the decade in any genre on sites users sites like Rateyourmusic (only for listeners, shyt has nothing to do with critics/publications)

-Had rollingstone Magazine calling Sway in the morning to say TPAB better be #1 on every end year list
-The highest rated hip hop album of all time on Metacritic
-Probably one of the most respected rap albums by jazz musicians
-Contains Obama's favorite song of the year

Bonus: -George Clinton just said Kendrick, despite his young age, was just like him... they have the same awareness & knowledge of music

Kendrick's haters keep taking L's while Kendrick keeps making history with the quality of his music.

Kendrick Wamar the president of the new school...So many W's he can start donating em to less fortunate rappers

The praise of TPAB & MBDTF is well deserve and nothing about it is manufactured. Some goat artists are being influenced by these 2 albums and I'm already seeing their influence on a lot of indie & underground artists.

Not to mention that the music is beautiful and far superior than anything we have heard in hip hop music these last 5 years, objectively. The only albums that can compare are the ones from Frank, Tame Impala, Grime, alabama, etc.

It's not a coincidence if these 2 albums are only being compared to the greatest albums of the other genres.

:dead: at any of this being "objective"

Actually I disagree. MBDTF was the Purple Rain of it's era. Almost every hip-hop album, had to do a reset after that album came out.

Again, MBDTF is a great album, but nowhere near what you're making it out to be. Nothing after MBDTF sounds like that album. You could argue that Teflon Don, which dropped in the same year, had a bigger impact on Hip Hop albums since. Much of Hip Hop now sounds like re-treads of "BMF" and "MC Hammer" sonically and that sound is pretty much dominant. There's plenty of notable Hip Hop albums that sound like neither MBDTF or Teflon Don though.

Well you'd be wrong again. Just because you're short-sighted and delusional doesn't mean he isn't a "household name".

obviously you just don't know what a household name is.

run along.

They're overcompensating for giving cacklemore that grammy. Album came and went. Never heard it outside.

bu bu but "hes a household name".

lol.

you talking about that "we gon be alright" song?:heh:

it was a smart move at an opportune time. nothing spectacular. at a time where theres non-stop protesting, he drops a protest single, and it gets saturated on the airwaves via interscope. so of course people are gonna sing it at protests. that's all it is to it. yall be in here acting like he made "fight the power" or something.

Nobody Cares about? :mindblown:

I don't care about Grammys personally , but you don't get nominated for 11 of them for an album no one cares about. I get why some people don't like it. But saying no one cares is a bit of a overstatement

But I agree with you about the quality of music overall now and that there won't be universally loved album because that just isn't how it us anymore. Once something starts getting a lot of love, people will dislike it just because everyone else loves it... We see it all the time

@SirBiatch expressed my post better than I did. it was like 1 or 2 posts after yours.

and yes "no one cares" in the grand scheme of things. theres lots of more popular rappers out there currently and we're in the dark ages. to even mention prime snoop in this thread is outrageous.

That's fair, but I just want to know if nobody cares in the big scheme of things then what projects or albums do people actually care about that has dropped the last 2 years?

I think it's easy to say nobody is listening or cares about music that you don't like, but the fact is that I don't hear people talking about projects that came out before or at the same time as TPAB
