I respect that :salute:

Thanks Drake. Now the world will see how fire this album is :ohlawd:

Charlemagne called it years ago too. He always said it would take time for people to realize how special this album is.

Amazing song.

I remember the first time listening to it once the last verse finished sitting there stunned with the :mjcry:As the chorus came back in.
Still gets me all the time when I listen to it

One of the best at evoking emotion with his tone of voice.

Even though drake butchered this song's meaning heavily, I'm glad it's brought more attention to this song

Instantly thought it was dot at his best :banderas:

2 years later, it's aging well. Glad he decided to release the album. Cause he was adverse about it at first. But he addressed a lot of that needed to be from start to finish:mjcry:

we need to show some love to Die Hard too

both of kendrick verses in my top 10 kendrick verses. so simple but hold alot of weight and hit like crazy personally:mjcry:
That should’ve been a hit. Everybody knows the lyrics when I went to the concert.

They didn’t seem to push any singles though. Weird.

It's a great song but I'm never gonna feel comfortable about the end of the last verse, the "they raped our mothers" part. Just felt too performative for a song that serious, and the "so I set free..." portion leans into the very savior aesthetic the rest of the album deconstructs.

He’s talking about setting free his own family trauma though. He’s breaking the curses for his kids that he and his parents endured.

And the raped our mothers (slavery) part is true lol
