He’s talking about setting free his own family trauma though. He’s breaking the curses for his kids that he and his parents endured.It's a great song but I'm never gonna feel comfortable about the end of the last verse, the "they raped our mothers" part. Just felt too performative for a song that serious, and the "so I set free..." portion leans into the very savior aesthetic the rest of the album deconstructs.
