Album is great but not better than illmatic
nikkas gotta stop with the hyperbole. Album was dope but I ain't gonna lie, I don't have time to dissect albums like that without a vinyl copy and me chilling in my living room in deep thought or some shyt. I listened to it, enjoyed it, didn't skip any songs but when it was over I put Tana Talk 4 back on 
I'll listen to it again but no way I can put a 12 hr old album up there with Illmatic

Finally finished. It's an excellent album. I can see it getting Album of the Year nods at the Grammys.
As a "hip hop" album, it's aight.
Like it's great to hear all of his tribulations on wax BUT as a hip hop album I don't know if that equates to replay value.
It feels like I'm listening to an audiobook of a theatrical play. Not saying that's a bad thing.

This album sounds like depression. His morale been low af, and society as a whole been killing his drive to create. (Worldwide Steppers = Society)
Thats what I theorized last night and i think PARTS of it are in response to that but overall the song is more of a message to all rap fans who think these rappers are some sort of deities or higher beings and place unrealistic expectations on them. I also think its in response to the five year gap between albums. He basically said “fukk music. I was raising a family, getting my mind right, healing from past trauma and waiting until I actually had something to say. I chose MYSELF over whatever arbitrary time limit was set for me”
He should’ve won for both Damn and TPAB. If be doesn’t get it this time around there will be CRAZY backlash but can you actually see The muthafukking GRAMMYS awarding an album about the mental health of Black Men the Album of the YEAR?
