Maybe these nikkas will get the clue to stop "straying":banderas:...Dude had a good blueprint going with GKMC,as a artist you can do what you want but if people prefer what you originally gave them how is it they fault:dahell:...Oh we should buy the old album:rudy:? Sometimes change of direction works and sometimes it doesn't:manny:...I do think people don't hate this album as much as they put on though, but I think most of that is coming from all the classic talk from fans and critics....People feel like they need to go harder against this album because of all the praise.
And of course you have the Drake stans:heh:...Lets not pretend Drake doesn't want the props and respect Kendrick gets from critics and legends at this point, dude is a student of the game and obviously does. Yall can hype up his success if you want to like that's the end all be all,but if he don't push out some classic albums soon whats he really doing?Besides waiting on the day a competent mainstream hiphop artist knocks him out of his spot and we forget all about that nikka:why:.?Lets not pretend that nikka aint been hanging on by default and weakness of his peers in his lane.
Yeah there's definitely blow back from all the hype he was receiving. On here it's just the same 5 Drake stans spamming the board getting there troll on :troll: I mean besides a few people on the internet I don't think people really hate this album. Most of the people I talked to just said it was too different. Either Kendrick over estimated his influence or he gave rap fans too much credit to think they wanna hear some shyt like this. Some people when they listen to hip-hop just wanna hear hip-hop not all that spoken word, jazz, neo-soul shyt.

The content & lyrics is different but the style of production is in the same direction.i would post youtube songs to show you how close the beats are but im on my ipod right now.

Is that really what we want though? Forcing artists to stay in a certain lane through sales seems like a good way to get a bunch of 1 dimensional rappers running around talking about nothing.

I'm glad Kendrick switched up on us. The people were expecting GKMC 2 but he delivered a totally different beast, something unexpected. I say we should applaud it, not shyt on it.

However, what it sells is what it sells. :ld: Either Kendrick will feel he accomplished his goal and continue to do whatever he wants comfortably, or his confidence will be hurt. If he allows that to happen. shyt's gonna get worse before it gets better. Hopefully he's secure enough to realize that selling lower would be the expectation for such a left field album, and move forward.

But I'm with you on Drake. These dudes are more insecure than Drake himself, I enjoy Drake music but damn most Drake stans are unbearable. :mjlol:

I don't think you would get that because I'm not asking that he do what everybody else does,Im suggesting he could stick to what worked with GKMC,it sold and got the acclaim....SOme people might have claimed it was too similar to GKMC if he had,but that would've been a failure on him as a emcee....He excels at concepts so its no reason he couldn't have stayed in the same realm and kept the same tone and still made a album that was completely different from GKMC without forcing it like TPAB seems to be....I know artist seem to be hell bent on "pushing boundaries" now a days but when your good at what you do its really unnecessary in this genre imo.He has that spoken word style often and when you combine that with these beats it can come off like you at a poetry slam:dahell:...and frankly I don't know if he's ear grabbing enough as an emcee yet,I think he's going to need to lean heavily on strong concepts and concept songs and stories over his career,...if your not that lyrical, not that witty, flow is not incredible not sure how anyone could see differently for the future.

Lol nobody fukkin with this shytty album no matter how much these white hipsters reviewers calling this a masterpiece cuz they don't wanna look racist.

Only the first song is decent.

I'm from Compton and I'm like fukk this nikka. I ain't supporting this garbage.

I could listen to d'angelo last shyt if I wanna hear this kind of stuff. I wanna hear Kendrick lace beats not pretending to be some coffeehouse spoken word fakkit. fukk this nikka basically.

This shyts a flop.

Ive heard both many times but I cant say I thought of either when I heard this album?maybe if you took the bass and drums out of a lot of those songs:patrice:? I now Doggy Dogg World might be a comparable trac we can use off top of my head....But lets be honest though too,you cant compare Snoop and Kendrick as emcees....Snoops flow lends itself to the beat,in the sense you can pretty much nod your head to Snoops flow even if he was rapping acapella:banderas:....Kendricks style doesn't really do that at all,he's flow doesn't supply the bounce Snoops does:pachaha:

The streets, outside of the south, hated trap music one time. :francis:

Only so much 808s a person can listen to before they want to hear something different. Besides, most them party rappers can't sell shyt or have shelf life.
yea I agree, trap music has needed a period of growth...but now it's highly listened to. I remember when 808's were highly listened to in miami bass culture around 91 (dj Magic mike,Luke etc.) and I thought it would exhaust itself out then...but from a musical stance futures music is a lil more complex than just simple 808 use...his melodies are sonically great...imo

Yea Cole was out there in Ferguson and NYC actually protesting and making powerful music about taking the chains off then performing it on a talk show in front of old cacs like a real nikka:salute:
Meanwhile Kendrick reciting poems to an imaginary 2Pac ghost about how black people don't respect their selves and thats the only reason why racism still exists:pacspit:

2 totally different type of nikkas right there, Cole has nothing to worry about since he's not trying to be a passive aggressive c00n

"Killuminati all through your body· Blows like a 12-gauge shotty......(long spoken word pause) YOU FEEL ME":damn:
