Regardless of whether people you interact with are taking about it, the streaming/sales are objective data showing conclusively that this album is still getting burn.
stopthejuelz the album flopped. It's ahhz and it flopped, it was the big buzz week one now nobody is doing deeper deeper dives into this auditory vomit.

That’s why Future is outselling him

I think the issue here is people can’t process nuance. Yes. The album flopped and will not be the commercial juggernaut DAMN was. Yes he is now getting outsold by Future’s album, which dropped two weeks earlier which is a strong indication that Future’s album will chart longer. Maybe even outsell it in the long run.
But, how can you say the album came and went when it’s been out a month and hasn’t left the top 5 of the Billboard 200? :dead:
There’s more choices on the spectrum other than “Thriller” and “came and went”. Clearly this underperforming album is somewhere in the middle.

An artist of Kendrick's caliber should still be #1 a month later

:mjlol:

You're literally the only person touting the staying power of it

5 yrs ago and he wouldn't eeeeeem be in the top 5 right now, barely top 10

You wouldn’t be arguing about it if you weren’t

Look at the Damn thread vs the new album thread for context

Look at Twitter for context

Look at IG

Go to the barbershop

Go to a happy hr and ask ppl what are they bumpin’

This crazy how you won’t leave it alone

:mjlol:

Was just at the barbershop and 3/4 people there were talking about the album at some point

On track to move another 40,000 units in week 5 and chart at #7.

I’m only ever talking about this hip hop space. I’m never referring to the Adele’s of the world.. so my bad for not clarifying that..

Hip hop audiences aren't buying significant amounts of physicals with bundling getting shut down. Can it be done? Sure. Tyler sells an unusually high amount of vinyl (although it can be argued that Tyler’s audience isn’t hip hip)

I do think Kendrick could have squeezed an extra 25-30k from physicals, but a physical release isn’t taking a 295k album to 700 the way some people are implying. That’s completely disingenuous

And I agree a Drake comparison isn’t fair. That was kinda my point lol.. Kendrick was never competing with Drake with this album, and he shouldn’t have been expected to. The people holding him to those type of imaginary projections only to be disappointed that he failed to meet those imaginary projections are playing themselves.

Drake is like McDonald’s at this point. So easily consumable and universally accepted. No rapper should be expected to do the things he does. The fact that you had people thinking Kendrick would do a million when Drake, the biggest artist in rap music, who just broke every streaming record imaginable with CLB - ONLY did 613k, is literally crazy

That's a fact he did outsell Drake with damn
