Kobe perhaps has the greatest range of the all time greats in terms of where people rank him. A lot of people have him as the GOAT, many people don't have him even in the top ten. And it was that way before he passed. It's really wild.

I think it's better that we think about players in ranges. I don't get mad at anyone who doesn't have MJ #1, but at the absolute lowest he can't be lower than 4. Both him and Kareem have this rule with me. Magic at the absolute lowest is 10. Kobe at the absolute lowest should be top 15. Bron is the same as Kobe, but he's working towards Magic's range.

Yup. I've always said to me Kareem and Jordan are locks at 1 and 2 IMO. 3 through like 12 are all interchangeable. If somebody has Kobe 12 I'm not mad at all with it. Same as Lebron. And it's foolish when anybody comes in with "if you don't have Lebron/Kobe or whoever else top 5 you're just being a hater" type takes too. These dudes are all amazing and it does a disservice to their greatness to act like it's a crime to have somebody like Magic over them.
