Power Forwards weren’t asked to facilitate offenses back then, that was the PG’s job. They were asked to play the post, rebound, play defense, and be the equalizer before anything. If they could score it was a plus, Malone and Barkley changed the position because they were scorers. No power forward was asked to pass the ball because they played the game different back then. Can’t compare past eras of PFs to Draymond because the game is totally different and he was on a team with the GOAT shooter and arguably the 2nd greatest shooter of all time which enhances his assist totals. It’s no thing to stand at the top of the key and wait for Steph or Klay to come of a pick on a curl and dump the ball to them. But it’s not to minimize him, it’s just the reality. Draymond doesn’t have the burden of being the top scorer AND/OR rebounder of his team like Malone, Barkley, Tim, KG, Kemp, Webber, or Dirk. Also, they were the top dogs and lead players on their teams, while Draymond is an excellent role player who doesn’t have to carry his team.
