You know how many folks I grew up with that got killed and did time because of the company they kept? How many kids they influenced? In hindsight upon reflection I'm able to see clearly that much of the problem is dysfunctional and ignorant people perpetuating either stagnant or backwards behavior and thought processes amongst themselves. Thank God my father saw the same and kept me in check cuz I would have done the same.

Why would anyone with common sense want a parolee to go right back to that scenario and increase his odds for failure?

things aren't adding up....how much more faith in the legal system could you prove to have than by being nonchalant/encouraging/tolerating of behaviors that puts you at its mercy

Some come home and mature or have matured while away which is beautiful, but how many have not? Especially the younger ones. Again I emphasize that there needs to be nuance and discretion on the part of POs, judges, and law enforcement with these situations. Especially with a 50 something year old like this guy. For others though, keeping them away from negative influences can be a positive thing.
