My point is conceptual therefore we can't just look at what happened or didnt' happen because it goes deeper than that. The concept that I am addressing is the misguided one that circumstances determine how a player is viewed, and how he's built, what he's made of etc. more so than what he actually does as an individual. You acknowledged yourself that he would be viewed differently if they win the Finals with no change in his performance. How can you not see/acknowledge how silly that is? We are talking about KD, the individual, here. So why are circumstance outside of his controlling the discussion about him, the individual. I get that the media is gonna work thier narrative. I am taking issue with nikkas on here and fans in general who buy in to that bullshyt when it lines up with thier beleifs and then wanna talk about "the media's agenda" when it doesn't. For the record I never said he was beyond criticism (especially for how he played against Memphis) nor did I say he was a finished product. My only point has been the reasons for the criticism are based on things that happened outside of him more so than what he actually did or didn't do himself. In other words if things outside of his control broke his way over the last year with no change in his performance, he would be the "Clutch Killer King" right now but since they didn't somehow he's the total opposite.
