I think what he and a lot of people miss is what really get's people incensed about police killings is the fact that:
1. Police officers are rarely held accountable for killing people whereas prisons are full of black men who commit crimes against other black men. Hell, we have a reality show, 48 Hours, that shows how efficiently the state works to capture and charge civilians - disproportionately black.
2. Police killings are committed by people who have taken a vow to protect, serve and uphold the law. We live in a country of laws, if those paid to uphold the laws are breaking them, then the system lacks credibility. Are they suggesting that we should hold Police officers and criminals under the same standards?
3. Most law abiding people can take steps to reduce the chances of being victimized by criminals. But, when dealing with cops, there are no steps you can take since the color of your skin regardless of your character or behavior is enough to get you killed.
4. If I were to ask one of these people, Why does the U.S spend so much money fighting terrorism($500 Billion since 9/11) when so few people (94) die from terrorist attacks? Why not spend that money fighting cancer which kills 564,000 people every year? I would be called every name in the book and accused of being Un-American.
