As a kid, I preferred Nash/Hall over Rock/Austin (well, WCW in general over WWF, especially for the Wolfpac) until Mark Foley had his run and Hoegan made the red and black uncool.I mean, all four of them were over as fukk. McMahon likes to rewrite history, but the fans popped HUGE when Nash ended Whisker Biscuit's streak:
(Pre-set to 2:30, watch until the end to watch the crowd go nuts for Big Sexy)
Nash was definitely top 5 most over between both companies in 1998. That being said, Austin and Rock got the biggest pops consistently from 98 forward, especially after thethat followed the Fingerpoke of Doom.
Hoegan.

It couldn't have been just anyone, Nash made sense at the time. Wolfpac Nash in '98 was huge. HUGE. DDP ending it at Halloween Havoc a few months earlier would've been great, but nobody watching at home would get to witness the defeat live.not trying to go against your opinion, but alotta fans were sick and tired of goldberg's run, and anyone beating him woulda got a huge pop.
the videos you posted and those pops. Backlash 2000... amazing.Vince Russo - The Swerve - Kevin Nash pt.2 Ep. 34 - Vince Russo's The Brand"when we would do a 2 hour Nitro and the people would wait and wait and wait for Scott and I to go to a portal and get hit with a spotlight and thats all we would do for the night"..."The crowd would erupt because they know the Outsiders were in the house"..."I'll say this to Steve, Rock, anybody else's face...you name somebody whose ever got that response without coming down to the ring and cutting a promo, we got that response with a 30 second spotlight spot"
No one in WCW was getting pops like Austin and Rock even at the peak of Nitro
July 1998 Georgia dome nitro.
Nobody was getting pops bigger than Austin and Rock during that era.
What a fukkin spin this is...A complete misquote. I listened to this podcast and when it was in context it didnt sound as bad as you tryna spin it. When the Outsiders were invading WCW they absolutely had bigger pops than Austin or Rock did...at that time. But that really wasn't about what they were talking about..that wasn't even what he said. Nash wasn't really trying to discredit Rock or his good friend Austin or even put himself over them. Maybe pop is the wrong word...and Nash never used that. In the context of the interview Nash was pretty much talking about the impact they had on nitro saying that they were generating a buzz comparable to The Rock and Austin without running to the ring and whipping peoples ass or cutting promos.. Just a little frame of reference for you who didn't listen to the actual podcast. Vince Russo asked him when did he realize that the Outsider angle was taking off
this is what was said...

Yup, Nash reads the TSC and says this shyt to get you guys tight lol
Listening now. Nash always plays the too cool for school schtich. Thing that's standing out to me, and I've gotten this vibe from other interviews... you can tell he's still legit salty about his feud and promos with CM Punk, and how Punk made him look foolish.
Wolfpack, Sting, DDP, & Goldberg were getting just as big as reactions in 98Nobody was getting pops bigger than Austin and Rock during that era.
