But you gotta at least try to get the ball to your playmakers. You put Deebo to return kicks in desperation, you gave Deebo the ball on 3rd and 7 last week. Get that man ball in space on a screen. Trent cant move ? OK throw it to the right. Just get Deebo some space and a couple of blockers. Do an end around. A trick play. ANYTHING with Deebo. Or fukk it, get it to Kittle and maybe he can break some tackles.
Like why on earth would you trust jimmy dropping back over giving the ball to your all-pro, pro bowl studs that repeatedly break tackles and get YAC ? It doesnt make sense. Also identity crisis when we have these leads in the fourth. Finishing the game is like pulling teeth, we're in super conservative mode and defense has to win the game more often than not.

Exactly. We will. You were faithful to someone who failed his way upwards and the rest of us were realistic. Us criticizing him didn't make us lesser fans. Deebo and Kittle and Mitchell being what they are got us this far not Jimmy's almost interceptions. You keep going and throwing shots. I'm gonna start throwing shots back.
As for the point of this thread if we're being really real and we're presenting options we think the team should pursue:
1. package Jimmy and a bundle of picks to Houston for Deshaun. I genuinely don't care if Trey Lance sits for another year or two. The team itself is ready now for a proper QB. For me, the QB doesn't have to be Lance, but they do have to be less turnover prone at the minimum.
2. If #1 isn't feasible then I would be ok with them trading Jimmy for picks and going after a less turnover prone QB (Marcus Mariota is immediately coming to mind. He can throw screens, accurate over the middle with a bit of time, but his primary play involves taking care of the ball.......and he's durable)
3. Draft another elite pass rusher for pass situation pressure (I understand this is the opposite of what y'all are saying with the secondary fix, but the other way to fix a bad secondary is to have a WILD pass rush. We can keep building on that strength)

I get you but Bosa is just a Defensive End/sometimes outside linebacker. Not one of those who thinks QB > everything else but I feel like this would be a hard sell in San Francisco and Oakland. Black folks in the bay got mad about Mac and now ya'll might force feed Trey next year too.

The people who would get pissed about it and burn jerseys are the same ones who'd cancel Chappelle and his tickets are somehow always sold out whenever he performs there. I'm genuinely curious, would you, or anyone you know, stop being a 49er fan if Deshaun is the QB?

Shannahan didn't trust his offense with Jimmy at QB. That much is obvious. You think he doesn't go for it on 4th and 2 with a QB he trusts? If Jimmy could bootleg he could've run that and hit Kittle or even Dwelly coming across the middle to pick up 2 yards. Even without running play action we could've run a quick out to Jennings or Deebo.
He just didn't trust Jimmy and the offense to get the 2 yards...
