Explain this 8 percent rule

It used to be top 10 but they're shrinking it now.

Basically if youre in the top x% you automatically get into any state school in TX.

It's serious shyt. When I was in HS the top 10% kids checked their grades every week to make sure they were still top 10 and if they fell out they transferred to another school where they would be top 10.

One girl cried and refused to walk the stage at graduation because 6 or 7 kids dropped on the last day of school and so the # of kids who could be top 10 shrunk by one person...it was her:wowzers:

She had to go to Community College instead:wowzers:

Is this a real story?
It's not just automatic admission, isn't there scholarship money attached to the rule?

No disrespect, but getting accepted into a state school shouldn't be that difficult for those who didn't crack the top x percentage of their graduating class.
