Killer Instinct 1 sucked. I don't see this being any better so far
lol @ "free to play" but needing a live gold subscription....![]()

They will be at Comic Con this week.I think the idea was to get the game out there so people can play it.The reactions have been positive from people that have played it.Showcasing it before Marvel finals was horrible idea tho![]()
A bunch of reasons.
First off, Killer Instinct was never really a respected fighting game by the competitive community. It didn't hold up to competitive level play and the mechanics were fairly hated, especially combo breakers. In the original KI you would just mash buttons like a madman and very quickly break combos. They are probably changing a lot of the bad mechanics, but the games are not remembered fondly by the fighting game community.
Second, it is Xbox One exclusive. The fighting game community uses the PS3 as the official tournament console whenever possible. As a result, many fighting game enthusiasts own PS3s. In general, they aren't a fan of exclusives. It means some players can't practice or participate.
Third, this was basically Microsoft walking onto stage and marketing. Capcom and Namco Bandai get to advertise their new products because they have a relationship with the fighting game community. Seth Killian, who used to be Capcom's PR, would actually announce the finals. He played Street Fighter and was fairly good at it. These aren't the kind of people you can just announce a game to and expect them to embrace it. You better have a history, most of the things you see advertised on stream have had long ties to the community.
They had to know they were walking straight into the lion's den. The FGC has no qualms about telling you exactly what they think. Evo is their event. Microsoft showed a lot of hubris.
Here is another good quote on the situation. This time from reddit. It covers a lot of bases in the entire situation

Here is the kicker KI will most likely be in Evo next year.![]()

If DH can fix shyt in time and things smoothed out, I'd be all for it.
However, if the community complains to Wiz enough or the pros aren't fukking with it, he may either throw it in the bushes or relegate it to one of the less watched stream at an obscure hour
PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale didn't make EVO this year so I doubt KI will make it there either. The FGC really doesn't fukk with exclusives like that on both sides

Better yet...
That new DOA game didn't even make it to EVO and that's not even a year old, and has more of a following than KI. People calling it now saying it will be a game in EVO a year from now don't know what the fukk they're talking about. It's dependent on how well it fairs in the Road to EVO tourney's that lead up to EVO.

Exactly.
I'm seeing a lot of ignorance in this thread on how the FGC and its tourneys work.

besides M$ being dikks an buying up a half-hour of Evo, they had no other In besides the money. As stated before, the games that a played at Evo are there because the resonate with the gamers and have great communities.
As for KI, i was watching the Glacius reveal, cuz i though the game looked great...and the dev that was demoing it said "Yeah, we have no problem with Glacius having an unblockable projectile".
i turned the shyt off instantly. I already see this shyt being and unbalanced mess. The moment you start embracing unblockables and infinities as something you did on PURPOSE. I can't ride with it...let the nerds discover that, don't make it a cornerstone of a fighter.
It's expected when the only people who are hyping this are Xbots who are casual fighting game fans to begin with.
When the fighting game enthusiats and veterans start showing excitement for this then it'll be worth the hype. It's too early to tell how the game will be received by real fighting game heads or if it'll be in EVO next year. Still can't believe somebody said that.

"Fighting game enthusiasts" are really the only ones who have had hands on time with the game. And I have not seen any negative impressions yet. All impressions have been very positive and a lot of the hype for this game comes directly from the fighting game community.
