A rapper who's been in the game for 20+ years won a Grammy for a dope introspective southern rap album where he was spitting throughout and The Coli is hating?

Album was great to me :salute: to Mike

Album was well deserving of the award. KD3 was my favorite album of the year, but looking at it objectively, Killer Mike’s album is a better piece of work. This is some real dirty South music. Heavily church and soul influenced tracks. If you’ve been in a Baptist church in the South, some of the tracks give you that feel. Also, a lot of Afrocentricity. The raps were A1 and the guest appearances all made sense. My favorite joint is Shed Tears. They used a fire Clark Sisters sample and Mozzy with a standout verse.

3 Stacks, Fewtch, and KM all went off on Scientists and Engineers. Thug, Nudy, T.I., Ty Dolla, etc all did their thing and the project still sounded very cohesive. Well-produced album.

I’m not a fan of the Run the Jewels stuff at all, but his previous work was good back in the day. Niccas are using the political stuff to take away from the art that he put out. I didn’t hear him pushing any conservative political messaging on any of the songs on this album. I’m viewing this as a hip hop fan. Look at the competition he was facing. None of those albums had a chance. The nicca didn’t even need to lobby. I could see if there was a viable alternative project. They weren’t going to give it to Nas for KD3 after he already won for KD1. That was the closest competition. The other 3 were subpar. Utopia? LOL. Shyt wasn’t even debatable. This ain’t the Billboard Awards

Truth.

The Republicans used him to go out and talk sh*t about a black woman running for office. They gave dude bread, and then came out and said he was lobbying for them. When everybody started asking him about it, he would dodge the question and say he "wasn't political" while literally campaigning against the black people who were trying to get more black people from the community out to register and vote. Black businesses in the spots of GA that he's called home, were closed down because of the people he helped to get back in office.

He's a self-hater for sale, who pretends to be the opposite and for "the people" in his music, but will sell out his own in a second, if he's paid to. Straight clown and a fake.

Can you provide a link to the above? The only candidate I ever saw him campaign for is Bernie Sanders.

He talked shyt about Hilary and Stacey Abrams which I thought was a mistake, but I know quite a few black progressives in real life who voted for 3rd party candidates because they couldn't get themselves to vote for moderate Democrats. I thought they were acting like petulant children, but I’m still friends with them. Do you only fukk with people who mirror your same exact political views? You are acting like a petulant child too.

Yep. He’s one of those black conservative southerners who is skeptical of white people (plausible) AND female leadership (ridiculous). Remember when TI said Hilary can’t be president because she’s a woman? This is literally when Trump’s corrupt ass was running in 2016. These dudes are sick lowkey.

These guys are fukking clowns

We can shyt on Killer Mike without rewriting history. Stacy Abrams is a piss poor politician who ran a shytty candidate and ended up performing significantly behind Biden, Ossoff, and Warnock in a surprisingly favorable political environment for democrats in Georgia. We can take the cowards route and blame her sex/misogony, blame Killer Mike etc. Or we can blame her for not being good at anything beyond organizing for other people. We remember the threads about her campaign struggling to define itself, we remember her weak debates, we remember her weird focus on white leftist-approved aggrievement politics. She sucked and ran against an incumbent government who turned out to be pretty popular. The end.

Do I think Mike is a fraud? Basically yes. Even beyond the rapping about socialist/communist revolutionary shyt while simutaneously bragging about being a landlord....he sure seems to enjoy ignoring blatant racist shyt in Georgia done by republicans because they cut his business taxes. Dude is a weirdo as far as I'm concerned and while I'm happy that he won the award because I like so much of his previous work, that album isn't good.
