Let me put y’all on game.. The fact that we pay taxes our public’s schools should be better but we all know our taxes go to other bullshyt

Only time your kid is getting a quality to top notch education in a public school is if you live in a zip code where the property tax on average is about $15k to $20k and over... otherwise your sending your kid to private school... those two dynamics have curriculum on classes that team finances, shop, aviation and automotive classes while providing class A high school sports vs public schools that get minimum funding and have shyt curriculum standards

That's not the argument though...

That is ultimately where their going back and forth ended up at though. Which was inevitable considering Mike's personality. I like Mike, and appreciate what he's saying and doing, but there's a fine line between providing awareness and being condescendingly preachy. Throughout that interview at certain points it turned into Mike simply popping his suspenders.

Public schools would be better without charter schools stealing money...

What Envy and Killer Mike is talking about comes from your PARENTS and family unit.

What Envy is bragging about in terms of owning businesses, learning how etc --- comes from the parent instilling that in their child. A child seeing their parent involved in running or investing in a business or real estate is usually the key.

If your public school is underfunded -- work together as parents -- and invest in your child's school if you have any extra funds. Buy supplies, computers, books - help the teachers! Fight the school system for more funding. Stop giving up -- and letting Black schools close.

In a situation where the state funded education is ass, Do you think sending your kids to private school is "giving up?"

How so? Some simple things to do...
  • Choosing to keep your child in a majority Black school
  • Critiquing school curriculum
  • Making sure their Black children are being taught and know about Black History -- and learn about them year round.
  • Volunteering time
  • Working with other parents to make sure children have school supplies, books, etc.
  • Working with programs to get technology updates/donations
  • Fighting the district to make sure your school is getting the same funding as others.

Won’t work because a lot of parents simple don’t give a fukk.

Depends in your state but in olaces like GA, proptery taxes are little to nothing in many areas hence the under funding of schools. If you raise the taxes the people then cant afford to live there.

I dont think it was or turned out to be about being "soft" or a "thug" -- it was about having pride and confidence in black communities, schools and institutions.

Enough of it to fight and support your own to help build or rebuild it all to the level many are running out the community to grasp.

If you keep running away - you clearly don't give AF and that is what many of us are doing. Meaning those who really are and were apart of a black community.

I noticed many black people were never apart of one - nor have family living in any --and have no ties whatsoever to any in their hometown or anywhere else -- so they could care less.

They both have valid points. I can appreciate Mike looking at the bigger picture that is the overall system. However, Envy makes a valid point in that the average working class or poor Black parent doesn't have the means to affect change on the level that Mike fantasizes about.
They also don't have the assets to send them to a private school. What Killer Mike was basically saying is that even if we did have the means we'd still rather send them to a private school instead of fixing the black schools.

Yes. If you care and have connection to that same school and area. I dont want my nieces, nephews and cousins going to a all white/majority white private school - when they could go to one they see children who like themselves at -- and be taught by people who look like them.

Black schools are closing all around the US - one has to fight and help to keep them open. Black teachers, principals, etc are unemployed and underemployed because of it.

Again, I dont mean to bring this up - but you are not Native Black American - therefore you probably never lived in an black community with a deep connection and ties to it --- especially in the South or Mid-West.

It's a different thing when your grandfather learned how to read by one of the first teachers in that school on his free time --- in exchange for helping the students learn how to grow vegetables. Or your family left the South -- and for the first time was able to go to a real school - instead of working in the fields.

It's more than just an "ass" education for many.
