Agree with you there, most of the time that is true.
sometimes action is necessary, bite is necessary. (Assuming your black) It our ancestors didn't bite you wouldn't have the freedom you do now.

I think looting is dumb though, that's just my 2 cents

that legit made me tear up hearing his pain and fears as a father :mjcry:

it's kind of sad but i try to remain disconnected from these tragedies just so I don't get upset and sad, because this happens way too often, seems like every day there is a new police brutality story..we need to find out a way to hold these pigs accountable...that is all.

at the same time, its not about race is something that killer mike shouldnt say. its always about race. el p got him thinkinging its about class and the machine and poverty. that is a seductive narrative that is not fully honest. RACISM undegirds the whole thing.

Mike sounds like a brother that hasn't accepted the concept of #inherently

I'm actually more shocked and emotional when white folks do the right thing...

If yesterday felt like a kick in the gut to you, then you haven't been paying attention to the past 400 years of history..

"Its not about race, its about class"

I think the stuff about it not being about race is more about him emphasizing the bigger picture that this verdict is representative of a system that protects its own at the cost of anyone else. Of course racism lays at the heart of this case, but the verdict as a whole is a spat in the face of anyone who believes in a system where justice can and will prevail, and that is an issue that doesn't just affect America internally but also externally (hence why most criticism from abroad follows that same narrative). Mike doesn't sugar coat the inherent racism in American society in his music, but I think here he wanted to band together all people as a whole and not just black people.

I truly hope that those that are taking this time to troll or post unproductive comments Iike "another n with a speech" realize there's a time for jokes and a time for seriousness.

Many of u are not fathers. Others aren't black.

Without those two ingredients u TRULY cannot empathize the emotions expressed by Mike and others.

The MOST u can do is sympathize. Know ur position.

This should be stickied.

With all the other stuff that we have at the top of the forums, given the impact this has on our community, and for many of us on our families, we need to continue to bring presence and to this issue.

Black men lives have largely been devalued and disgraced and decisions like this continue to allow this heinous behavior to continue; even encouraged.

I grew up hearing the words of Malcolm and Martin echoed in my house. Brothers like KRS and Chuck D picked up that torch and continued to try to elevate our thinking. Sadly, many of the things all these men fight/fought for still exist. Shout out to people like Killer Mike who still see hip hop as a medium to speak of the atrocities we are facing.

Co sign this.
