That speech....

I shed tears. Tears that I didn't shed when Trayvon was killed, or when Michael Brown was killed, or even last night. I had been holding back, telling myself "what do you expect? Of course there will be no justice so why get more bent out of shape about it." But seeing Mike cry I couldn't help but let go. I'm fukked up brehs, I was gonna go do some stuff tonight but I'm just going to chill and think about what happened and where we stand.

can we have killer Mike as one of our new leaders? brotha is intelligent and hip hop and I feel maybe he could be something to unite some of us in the hip hop community. Black people are all disorganized because they kill our black leaders. Im not sure how MLK or Malcolm were exactly chosen to lead the way, but I know we need someone today to get us to be somewhat unified on any front. Sharpton and Jesse ain't bout shyt and we all know that cuz if they was worth their salts even a little bit theyd be dead with our other leaders. Just my humble opinion.

Mmm i'm conflicted on this. In skme parts he was talking some real ish and in others he was leaning on puccified inoffensive scared kumbaya rhetoric.

Black people in the US are just going to have to wake up and accept that they are outsiders, they will never be accepted and considered equal and a war has been devlared on you. Seriously, what other conclusion is there to come to?...black folk of all ages and gender are repeatedly getting their asses kicked and apologising for scuffing them fuccers shoes. Its infuriating me watching this happen to you all. It's NOT a class situation because white folk aren't getting murdered by police at the same rate and manner as black folk and even if they were to they damn well wouldn't be getting off scott free...

You can't let them get away with it this time. There has to be consequences and people are gonna have to make some real decisions and start getting their hands dirty...cos them muthafuccas will come for you if they can and its only going to get worse

I think the stuff about it not being about race is more about him emphasizing the bigger picture that this verdict is representative of a system that protects its own at the cost of anyone else. Of course racism lays at the heart of this case, but the verdict as a whole is a spat in the face of anyone who believes in a system where justice can and will prevail, and that is an issue that doesn't just affect America internally but also externally (hence why most criticism from abroad follows that same narrative). Mike doesn't sugar coat the inherent racism in American society in his music, but I think here he wanted to band together all people as a whole and not just black people.
Well put.. I agree that's what he's trying to do..

at the same time, its not about race is something that killer mike shouldnt say. its always about race. el p got him thinkinging its about class and the machine and poverty. that is a seductive narrative that is not fully honest. RACISM undegirds the whole thing.

I agree and disagree with him in the sense that for the machine he speaks of the main color that is their motivation is green....but being that race is a major weapon they use to keep the poor whites and minoritys fighting each other while the machine/system itself basically gets ignored, you cant say its not about race:heh:....these are real feelings that exist and never went away from when it was REALLY about race.

You cant just tell people to turn off our feelings about race, even though he is right...as long us we all focus on that the system will remain comfortable and quietly run shyt the way they like it,as they continue using media and pouring gasoline on real feelings to keep us arguing and hating each other over bullshyt....whether it be race,or classes fighting among each other.

its no secret Martin got shot for talking that blacks and whites coming together shyt,Malcolm got shot as soon as his feelings on whites changed,Fred Hampton got killed for talkin that "black power to black people, white power to white people"....you gotta be beware of anybody who profits from hate, its a high percentage that they a decoy:sas2:

I hope Mikes just trying to make us aware to be aware of these different decoys that surround us and keep us unfocused from shyt that could make real change.

Yeah, this is how I saw it also.

Mike is right, it is a machine - a well-crafted, cold, effective machine.
"Race" is just one of the filters of the sensor on the front of this machine.
I feel saddened that many people don't realize this, but we are all on different paths in our journeys.
