The cause
I think the stuff about it not being about race is more about him emphasizing the bigger picture that this verdict is representative of a system that protects its own at the cost of anyone else. Of course racism lays at the heart of this case, but the verdict as a whole is a spat in the face of anyone who believes in a system where justice can and will prevail, and that is an issue that doesn't just affect America internally but also externally (hence why most criticism from abroad follows that same narrative). Mike doesn't sugar coat the inherent racism in American society in his music, but I think here he wanted to band together all people as a whole and not just black people.
who believes in a system where justice can prevail when racism lays at the heart?

Whites will never be able to empathize with non-whites on the effects of racism....

Killer Mike is one of the most intelligent brothers you'll ever hear

Met him and his wife in Lenox mall about 4 maybe 5 years ago at the music store and chopped it up about Prince and Roy Ayers and tribe called quest for about 15 minutes. Very humble dude and keep in mind I didn't even say anything to him to initiate the convo, he just saw me digging through the vinyls on clearance and he told me about a record store that had a shyt load of vinyls for cheaper.

Lol I looked up and was like thanks man :dwillhuh: ain't u..

Him: Mike my man, :daps: what you know about this Roy Ayers :smugfavre:

Me: I love that whole native tongues vibe from atcq, de la, jb's and so on.

The conversation went on from there. I was a casual fan before as I had monster and the pledge allegiance joints. But after that I was a huge fan.

He ain't even say nothing...

Killer Mike don't be saying shyt man... Yall be acting like he so smart or sumn... Just be talking in circles, and not sounding ignorant while he does it...

Dude spoke off the cuff with emotion. What the hell else did u expect the man to say? And who else is speaking out about it period in hip hop? Nelly spoke on it somsomewhat, but honestly it's only been killer Mike and macklemore, not Jay, not nas, not t.I., not snoop not dre. Nobody, because they too busy being safe, or will speak on it when their album drops. Mike actually cares and is in tune with the black struggle and has been for a while.
